This is a new retail concept in a fundamentally entrepreneurial, start-up feeling business. This means that everyone in-store needs to be prepared to do anything and everything required running the business and providing the best customer experience.

About the Role

Our Beauty Lab Manager will lead a team of around 5 people and will report into the Store Manager.  You will deliver outstanding retail experiences that fascinate shoppers through the presentation and demonstration of our machines, whilst talking about the science of hair.  Working with the Global Personal Category Managers and our Education Managers, the Beauty Lab Manager is responsible for planning, organising and overseeing the educational approach and strategies used by the in-store stylists, recognising performance needs that can be addressed and consistently developed.  You will be responsible for the beauty lab 100%. This includes every element of health and safety compliance and every trading activity within it.

Main Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work closely with Group Retail and local category teams to create styles and experiences that are suitable for the local market

  • Use data and insights from brand perception studies to influence senior stakeholders on future innovation

  • Create unique services that enhance reasons to buy direct in from our beauty lab

  • Ensure that we have the right level of service and drive an audience first approach by enhancing personalisation, "VIP" experiences and new propositions

  • Create events and promotional programs using CRM, social and influencer platforms

  • Launching new products and service to market

  • Lead, inspire and challenge a team of technical stylists to deliver business growth through great coaching and development

  • Continually review results, establish clear measures, sharing insights and revise as needed to drive performance

  • Lead by example and support team to deliver an environment for our products to come alive, be an expert in the beauty space

  • Deliver a sustainable retail platform that is efficient, ever evolving and that exceeds our customer’s expectations, whilst balancing this with a safe, compliant and cost controlled culture

  • Build a strong operating platform that ensures great availability for customers, whilst also monitoring waste and reductions to protect loss

  • Continuously building product knowledge and keep updated of any product developments and supporting the store team to do so

  • Be the brand guardian, ensuring that all markets understand what needs to be delivered and how

About you:

As a good people manager, you know how to build, train and lead a strong team. Behind the scenes, you oversee operations such as inventory and visual merchandising.

Jointly with management you will define and monitor key metrics that define success, from traffic generated to demos delivered to units sold to customer feedback. You will report results and recommend relevant actions to management.

You have a high degree of integrity, are flexible as your work hours will be based on business needs.

Previous skills and experience:

  • Preferably qualified stylist with proven industry experience ideally within the blow dry sector

  • Proven experience of store management/leadership and ability in working with Senior Stakeholders

  • Previous experience working with / in a premium beauty brand

  • Work in a collaborative style within a matrix organisation

  • Proven experience in the day-to-day operations of a store (an added benefit would be the experience of running a salon or any type of retail that requires the management of scheduled appointments)

  • A passion to deliver a high-quality shopper experience while driving commercial results

  • Track record for creating innovative solutions that solve problems and/or challenge convention

  • Experience of leading, motivating and developing a team

  • Understands operations, managing work schedules, stock management, compliance, health and safety, security and all day-to-day requirements of running a store
