Context

The UK property portfolio equates to about half of the entire global portfolio by area.  At over 100,000m2 in multiple locations including our two main research campuses in Wiltshire.  This role is to manage a team of internal supervisors, as well as external consultants and contractors.

Minor Works forms a vital element of the annual capital expenditure by, not only targeting strategic improvements to our assets, but also to support the ever-changing landscape of research and development within Dyson.  Dealing with multiple stakeholders and departments, all business functions benefit from agile and cost-effective project implementation.

Team leader experience is desirable with a good knowledge of the subject matter.  Predominantly specialising in the technical understanding of multidisciplinary building engineering, but also a good understanding of commercial and contracting aspects of projects.  Efficiently delivering world class facilities in a more sustainable way.

Candidate Profile

We require a candidate to integrate into a relatively small team with the following personal attributes:

  • Teamwork - Shows the willingness to put the goals of the team before personal goals, and the ability to build effective co-operative relationships with others.
  • Manage – Take a more managerial approach as a senior member of the team.  This includes managing the physical assets and record information to demonstrate compliance.

Essential Skills

The following competencies and qualifications are the minimum requirements of a candidate:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Building Services/Electrical Engineering.
  • Technical expertise; appropriate professional qualifications, up to date knowledge of statutory and compliance obligations
  • Broad experience; knowledge of a wide range of building services, and the options and applications within each service system
  • Leadership; ability to respond, prioritize and implement under pressure, coordinating both internal and external resource to reach the most expedient solution
  • Electrical competency to IEE Wiring Regulations 18th Edition.
  • A comprehensive understanding of Mechanical and Electrical Life Safety systems.
  • Experience of managing specialist contractors.
  • Comprehensive IT literacy with the ability to respond to customers emails (Outlook), schedule activities/equipment (Excel) and manage specialist applications/software to aid workflow (Windows).
  • A Full UK driving license with no endorsements.

Desirable Skills

The following competencies are not essential but desirable from a candidate:

  • SMSTS or equivalent safety qualifications
  • CSCS Skills Cards
