The role

Our IT Commercial & Connectivity team work with business colleagues to understand what solutions they need, providing development and delivery services globally.

To support projects, you’ll report to the Business Analyst Lead and work on the implementation and enhancement of single large or multiple small information systems, in line with business need. You’ll be working with Technical Architects, delivering and/or leading analysis activity in order to elicit requirements and inform business decisions and be responsible for investigating and analysing business situations, needs and systems and evaluating options for improving these.

Acting as an internal consultant to the business you’ll be devising and planning the analysis approach for large-scale projects, producing detailed business models and assisting in the preparation of business cases and identifying new, alternative and innovative approaches to performing business activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand strategic business needs and plans for growth.
  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements and identify appropriate solutions, while aligning them with business priorities.
  • Collaborate and work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business and other members of the Solution Delivery Team to collect, clarify and analyze business requirements.
  • Provide expert advice and insight to ensure business requirements are captured and are translated into technical approaches and designs that can be implemented.
  • Ensure business objectives and value of technical solutions are clear and well understood; ensure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Be a liaison between the business and IT, ensuring the technical requirements and specifications are well understood by the technical teams.
  • Provide guidance on or review specifications for change.
  • Conduct business process modelling to generate applicable scenarios for technology functional testing; support the business users in acceptance testing.
  • Support the project manager in managing business issues
  • Based on a good understanding of the business, as well as the internal/external technology environment, articulate and propose opportunities for improvements in business processes or existing solutions.
  • Provide quality assurance on all supporting documentation and ensure all is created and maintained according to organisational standards
  • Stay abreast with the latest technology changes, assessing their impact and potential value/risk to the business

About you:

We would love to talk to you if you are an experienced IT Business Analyst (perhaps with a technical background) who has previously worked on large projects, in a matrix structure, with cross functional teams and operating under both line reporting and Project Managers. You’ll be skilled at performing business analysis in a variety of complex situations and you’ll be comfortable working in Agile / Scrum framework environments.

Other key requirements include:

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to see overall picture and how individual actions fit within it.
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced, ever-evolving technology environment.
  • Methodical and organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in ‘owner experience’ / ‘customer journey’ will be an advantage
  • Relevant professional qualifications; including either BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis or IIBA Level 3 Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) will be distinct advantage.
