Being a pivotal role in the concept to production of a Dyson Designed Cell puts the Development team at the heart of this exciting journey. The Team will translate early concept directions into fully developed, optimised & validated solutions to make at high volume for the next generation of Dyson products.
About the role
This role is housed under the Energy Storage Mechanical Design team. The responsibility of this role is twofold:
First, the CAD Engineer would support the Mechanical Design team and other cross teams in producing high quality engineering drawings to support in-house builds and supplier engagements.
Secondly, the CAD Engineer will work closely with Mechanical Design team members to design jigs and fixtures used in laboratory settings to run small scale proof of concept experiments.
A successful candidate will have the communication skills to seek clarity in requests made from team members and manage his/her own time effectively to achieve deliverables.
Responsible for creating Mechanical Object models and 2D drawings to support the wider team of Mechanical, Process and Build Engineers.
Comfortable with interacting with multiple internal stakeholders to capture inputs into modelling and drawing updates.
Challenge and develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously enhance efficiency.
Design and develop custom jigs and fixtures for experiments and small-scale builds in short turnarounds.
Design and develop packaging solutions for cells at prototype & mass production phases.
Degree, diploma or relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
Minimum of 3 years' engineering industry experience.
Excellence in CAD modelling, production drawings and use of GD&T.
Fluent in 3D modelling, assemblies, BOM and 2D drawings; preferably Siemens NX, Solidworks and similar.
Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter 12 will be beneficial.
Experience in variant and SKU management with production drawings.
Experience in design of prototype and production jigs and fixtures.
Experience with prototyping technologies such as Sheet Metal Cutting, CNC machining, 3D printing and others.
Competent hands-on practical experience with building jigs and fixtures.
Strong organisational skills with a methodical and detailed approach.
Display drive, enthusiasm, self-motivation and teamwork skills.
Display initiative and proactivity to resolve difficulties and problems.
Basic communication, presentation & calculation software skills.
