Hair Care has ambitious plans for growth both in terms of product volumes and diversity. Insightful data is key to drive effective decision making on portfolio priorities, product specifications and business decisions. We have a wealth of data available across the business from surveys, commercial platforms, market systems, user trials and more. This mission will be critical within the Hair Care Category team to scope and deliver focused and robust data to inform portfolio planning and product design.
About the role
We are looking for a talented individual to join the Hair Care Category team as a Lead Analyst. The Hair Care Category Lead Analyst will be responsible for defining and delivering new ways of working for category to fully leverage both business and product data. This will involve building an extensive network across the business from upstream to markets, and spanning across RDD, Quality, Go-To-Market, Sustainability and Connectivity functions. The purpose of this role is to transform our analytics capability to drive strategic focus, decision making and category activity that is key to us achieving our ambitious growth. The team and this role have a high level of visibility, benefiting from a close relationship with the Hair Care Senior Leadership team, which enables them to deliver, alongside the hugely talented team of engineers and scientists.
Support scoping of a three year category analytics roadmap to enable a step change in product design, decision making and advanced analytics.
Collaborate closely with the relevant data owners across the business to identify, connect and leverage datasets required to inform category activities. Driving a structured approach to existing datasets and efficiently processing them to develop meaningful aggregated views.
Identify tangible links between analytics roadmap and other planned strategic activities to ensure full alignment across the category including but not limited to digital, product, and sustainability roadmap ambitions.
Specify and coordinate cross-functional teams in the running of strategic data capture activities. These would include being focussed on improving our substantiation of key cross-project requirements, from inclusive design through to colour material finish (CMF) considerations, and usage profiles.
Connect with teams across the business (such as Go-To-Market, Retail, Connectivity, RDD and Quality) to define shared metadata to create an aligned foundation for our future hair care datasets.
Collaborate with broader design management, portfolio management and category development activities across the Hair Care Category; including support of our product data, hair science, sustainability, and customisation activities from a data perspective.
Support product development activities through driving a data-led approach to test assumptions, validate and build credible rationale for product specifications. Creating clear output and recommendations to deliver fit for purpose product solutions within required timescales.
Support specific product development activities through effectively leveraging reliability and user trial data.
Degree-level education in relevant area such as computing, mathematics/statistics, business analytics or engineering/sciences
Highly skilled in using analytic packages on data warehouses e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure
Experience working with visualisation software e.g. Looker
Experience working in engineering
Strong ability to extract, blend and analyse complex data from different data sources, including translating outputs into key insights to inform business decisions and prioritisation
Experience analysing and presenting data in Data Visualisation Software packages (e.g. Tableau), and creating/maintaining associated data warehouse/structure
Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas and data simply
Experience across number of data platforms including mat lab, minitab statistical, and excel Ability to query large datasets using SQL
Competent programming with a scripting language (e.g. Python, R)
Familiarity with using APIs to extract data/information from external data sources
