About the role 

We are looking for a talented individual to join Hair Care’s Category Development & Operations team for 13 months maternity cover. The team and this role have a high level of visibility, benefiting from a close relationship with the Hair Care Senior Leadership team, which enables them to deliver, alongside the hugely talented team of engineers and scientists. 

The Hair Care Category Development Manager will be responsible for delivering global transformational and sustainability initiatives across the category and supporting the category with business level strategy activities. This role will involve working closely with the relevant representatives from cross-functional teams across the business to deliver key transformational projects and to lead the Hair Care sustainability ambition and delivery. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Define and lead the Hair Care Blueprint Programme, an internal transformation programme which covers all the key improvement areas for the category. This will involve defining the working group blueprint model throughout the year (with over 100 people within the category supporting) and tracking progress to ensure measures are appropriate and drive progression throughout year. Example of these initiatives are Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing, Inclusive Design and Sustainability. 

  • Lead and deliver key Hair Care Category Transformation Projects. This will involve working with global, cross functional stakeholders on high impact projects to transform the category’s capabilities. Key responsibilities include defining, facilitating and delivering specific transformational activities to assist with driving category growth and effectiveness.  

  • Lead the Hair Care Category on meeting the Business Sustainability Metrics across the product portfolio, as well as driving the Hair Care Sustainability strategy. A key collaborator and influencer throughout the global sustainability cross team and wider business, this role is pivotal in inspiring, energising and managing the development and execution of the category sustainability strategy into the future and existing product range.  

  • Drive Hair Care Strategy Development and Execution. Work alongside the product strategy team on the board strategy content for Hair Care including market current state analysis, key risks and opportunities for Hair Care. Working with key stakeholders to support the planning, development and execution of outputs and action plans. 

  • Hub and progress category analytics activity working with data and analytics teams across the business to drive decision making. 

  • Improve Hair Care internal communications. Lead the communications strategy for Hair Care and drive key internal communication events including the internal webinars and local & global briefings. 

 

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. 

  • Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional teams. 

  • Demonstrable experience in product development and/or project management 

  • Change management experience, ideally in a product development environment. 

  • Outstanding project management capabilities (i.e. planning, risk management, status reporting, stakeholder management and communication, resource management). 

  • Strong communicator; able to convey complex issues concisely and accurately. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build productive working relationships and influence at project level regardless of geographical locations. 

  • You will be confident, detail driven and passionate; comfortable with interacting with senior executives without being tempted to dilute unpleasant news or back down from well-reasoned analysis. 

  • Assertive; readiness to press teams to take remedial action when required. 

  • Credible; ability to demonstrate a good level of understanding of engineering processes in order to work with design teams throughout the project development cycle. 

  • Ability to multi-task and in a high paced and ambiguous environment where priorities shifted fast. 

  • Demonstrate ability to maintain composure in stressful situations and self-motivated who thrives in a dynamic environment.
