About us

Being a pivotal role in the concept to production of a Dyson Designed Cell puts the Development team at the heart of this exciting journey. The team will translate early concept directions into fully developed, optimised & validated solutions to make at high volume for the next generation of Dyson products.

About the role

As part of energy storage team, the Cell Engineer will:

  • Be responsible for the testing and validation of electrode and electrolyte components and process parameters, towards optimised cell designs.

  • Propose and facilitate the execution of coherent design of experiments (DOE) plans for new cell designs and form factors, using a variety of cell and battery models to generate feedback and performance estimates.

  • Develop techniques and most effective path to resolve process capabilities, summarize design qualification data and determine acceptability for production ramp.

  • Visualize your ideas based on integral and accurate analytical feedback from basic test to failure mode interpretation and respond quickly to changing context and status of project.

  • Show a hands-on passion for experimentation including tear downs, reports and validate methods to attain desired information and uncover potential risk that lead to compliance to requirement.

  • Transfer well-made technologies to scale up and manufacturing teams.

About you

Experience/ Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in materials science, materials engineering, chemical engineering, or related disciplines.

  • Minimum 2 years' working experience with hands-on laboratory experience in electrochemical testing (e.g. voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, titration techniques, battery cell cycling) and/or cell fabrication, to support pilot line cell tests.

  • Strong working knowledge of various battery chemistries, electrode and electrolyte components, to advise on optimum parameters for cell applications.

  • Experience with cell development process and understanding of essential outputs of each development stage is advantageous.

  • Have unbiased view and high ethical standard towards data analysis and reporting.

  • Desire to learn from new challenges, problem solving, and communication skills to work within a highly interactive and experienced team.
