Commercial Finance Manager

About the role

Act as a proactive business contributor towards the Sales Director and the Market Finance Director, leveraging his/her insights on the business to drive stronger plans.

Work with the Sr Commercial Finance Manager to partner with the Market Finance Director, Sales Director and Marketing director to drive profitable growth with customers. Ensure the proper governance/controls over Trade Investments driving ROI mindset and ensuring transparent reporting of customer activities performance is available.  The role will be required to provide a commercial perspective on a broad range of topics as new opportunities and challenges arise as a result of the rapid growth of the business.

Partner with sales teams to conduct Joint Business Planning with customers/ G2M analysis/ channel & commercial strategies, to improve decision making/ investment strategy, and to drive ROI mindset on Trade investments and cash flow improvements within the business teams.

A strong commercial understanding is therefore essential, as well as the ability to adapt their approach to work with both finance and non-finance colleagues. This is a hands-on role, which requires an individual who is able to pivot between day-to-day details, as well as a longer-term strategic outlook.

Main Accountabilites

Reporting, Analysis & Planning

  • Work alongside Financial Controller and FP&A Team to produce monthly P&L reports providing financial commentary and variance analysis on the monthly results vs. forecast, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Conduct profitability analysis of key customers/doors for physical retail with recommendations to improve
  • Identify and communicate industry movements and business trends. Understand pricing in the market, analyze and challenge product portfolio vs competition
  • Support preparation of financial forecast updates (FY Plan, Outlooks, Overheads budgets) as per corporate calendar, as well as other regular Updates based on business need, i.e. weekly Outlook
  • Support Market Financial Reporting decks, leveraging regional/ group capabilities.

Decision Support

  • Understand customer & categories goals / strategies and provide analyses to help organization to achieve / beat goals locally
  • Drive local trade investment spending ROI and Promotional ROI insights
  • Perform promo / pay-out analyses at local level and support design of promotional strategy across channels.
  • Use insights from internal and external sources to influence and enhance business operations
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to MD / Market Finance teams and business teams for decision making purposes
  • Play a key role in enabling the continued rapid growth of Dyson Korea through business partnering and identifying market/business insights to drive the business
  • Support preparation of business strengthening or gap closing plans at Market level, in close collaboration with Marketing/Sales Business Teams and with MD / Finance Team

People & Leadership

  • Develop strong market and group ties to ensure a collaborative approach to improve ways of working across all finance areas (business/process/systems)
  • Create strong working relationships within Finance as well as across other functions, and at all levels of the organisation.  This includes, but is not limited to Group/Regional Finance, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, HR and Customer Service.
  • Actively seek out opportunities to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role

About you


  • Strong communication skills in both Korean & English, with ability to present information (both written and oral) in a clear, concise manner to all levels of the organisation.
  • Commercially astute, with a meticulous attention to detail;
  • Tireless Problem Solver to face day-to-day problems, with an innovative approach to problem solving;
  • Self-Starter, who sees things through to completion;
  • Ability to influence at all levels;
  • Strong team player
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.  MBA or qualified accountancy is a plus.


  • 7+ years’ experience, ideally with a strong consumer brand in an MNC environment;
  • Experience in business partnering and influencing with sales, marketing and supply chain functions;
  • Experience in driving and managing change;
  • Professional accounting qualification is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to navigate financial and non-financial data gathering and analytics
