About us
Dyson’s Global Mechanics Commodity Team is responsible for Commodity Strategy Development of the mechanics parts in our products. This include supplier selection, supplier management and commercial agreement supporting the Category Strategies and our Global Manufacturing Strategy. Our preferred suppliers play a vital part in supporting Dyson to stay competitive and driving towards a sustainable supply chain.
The team continue to drive for value sourcing from the global supplier base and work very closely with the cross functional teams including our preferred suppliers to launch disruptive technologies on time, on volume, on quality and on cost, contributing to the top line and bottom line of Dyson.
About the role
This role reports into Global Head of Procurement - Mechanics and will lead the Global Filtration commodity team and strategic procurement activities for all the specific commodities (Filter Media, Filter Assemblies) end to end.
Manage the Global Filtration Commodity Team, responsible for procurement spend of GBP100m. Always leading by example for Filtration Commodity and ensuring development of global best practice principles
Manage the Filter Media Commodity directly and work in close collaboration with Procurement Engineering Team, RDD, Suppliers and include alignment on technology roadmap to support Dyson’s range plan
Become Dyson's global commodity expert for the filtration commodity.
Responsible for the Global Commodity Strategy for Filtration Commodity, constantly reviewing and maintaining its relevance to the company's blueprint, technology roadmap, global manufacturing footprint, global mega trends and market forces, both globally and within region/locality.
Ensure the Global Commodity Group adheres to the Global Commodity process (including, but not limited to, the RFQ for initial project development, transferred projects and current projects) according to company policy and the 5 rights approach. (Right source/quality/cost/qty/time). Identifying process improvements and implementing change as necessary.
Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) for the Filtration Group. Ensuring SRM development plans for all the suppliers within their Group are implemented and adhered to. Ability to forge excellent relationships with the most senior personnel at the suppliers within their Group.
Manage and drive the behaviors of their Group. Ensuring the Group organizes, utilizes and leads both internal and external resources to ensure the Global commodity objectives are achieved. E.g. Procurement engineers on “early supplier involvement”, New Product Introduction and Engineering teams on transferred development projects providing expertise and support to meet project milestones. Managing the Group to ensure sourcing on cost, on time and right quality.
Supplier price and contract negotiation for Global Filtration Commodity Group.
Supplier relationship management for the Global Commodity Group, supplier development and ensure development plans are implemented by the Group when and where necessary.
Ensure Group participation in Cross functional initiatives (e.g. PFG, product teardowns). Group members lead cross functional teams relevant to their Global Commodities)
Responsible for Risk Management for their Global Commodity Group, ensuring mitigation plans and closure actions are implemented.
Commodity market intelligence – responsible for gathering and informing stakeholders of all relevant Group market/supplier intelligence; Global, regional and local.
Responsible for “End-to-End” performance of their Global Commodity Group.
About you
Degree level qualification or above.
Substantial experience in Commodity Management and direct material sourcing.
Proficient negotiator with proven abilities in influencing people at all levels in the organization.
Good knowledge of legal regulations and contract setting.
Self-motivated, accurate and operates with the highest ethical standards.
Demonstrate understanding of technical, manufacturing and testing methods and processes relevant to the Group.
Proven track record of proactive leadership and of complex, global programs.
Proven track record of successful Commodity Management.
Fluent spoken and written English.
Desirable
CIPS (or equivalent) purchasing qualification.
Automotive / Aerospace / Defence / FMCG background.
Experience of lean manufacturing and Commodity Group manufacturing experience.
Experienced qualified auditor.
