About the role
You will work closely with Global Commodity Management, Category Procurement project Managers, our Global Design Centers in Asia and Dyson’s manufacturing partners in Mexico to establish a local supply base to provide agility and flexibility of supply at optimum cost.
The scope includes all commodities within direct procurement covering Mechanics (graphics & packaging, metal, rubber, resin & paint) for the short to medium term and could be expanded to cover Electro-mechanics & Electronics.
Your knowledge of the Mexico supply market and ability to develop suppliers to our requirements is essential in supporting the sourcing activities for our Floorcare and Haircare products. You will be working with our growing operations and supply chain team in Mexico as well as our global business, quality and operations teams in the UK and South East Asia.
Accountabilities:
Responsible for the local supplier base of assigned commodities and managing the suppliers to support the products manufactured in Mexico
Develop and implement at pace the Mexico sourcing plans for your commodities, in alignment with the Global Commodity Managers and Global Commodity strategies
Represent Procurement in cross functional team meetings
Work jointly with the Global Commodity Teams in South East Asia and the UK to implement the sourcing plans
Own and manage the supplier relationships with our Mexico-based suppliers
Cost benchmarking, RFx, negotiations of prices, NDA’s, Contracts and terms & conditions
Ensuring that contracts with all Mexico-based suppliers are in place and comply with Dyson Legal requirements
Plan and implement local sourcing projects and report progress regularly
Drive local dual sourcing
Verify, negotiate, and monitor the capex investments in our suppliers’ production lines for Dyson
Conduct New Supplier Visits / preliminary audits, and financial due diligence
Support the creation of value engineering and cost reduction proposals and monitor their implementation
Work with Global Commodity Managers to implement new prices through our internal pricing tool and ensure that our contract manufacturers purchase at the new prices in a timely manner
Identify risk, minimize exposure and work closely with internal stakeholders to define and implement risk mitigating actions
Support the Tooling and P&E Function as and when required from a Procurement perspective
About you
Preferably a Degree in Engineering or in any discipline
At least 5 years of experience working in commodity management
Experience in running and managing Mexico sourcing activities
Project management experience and the ability to deliver to tight timelines
Experience in a wide range of commodities
Proficient negotiator with proven abilities in influencing people at all levels in the organization
Good understanding of legal regulations and contract setting
Integrate effectively with a fast-moving global Procurement team. The successful candidate must have a proven track-record of success as a Procurement professional in a corporate Procurement environment, handling a diverse range of high risk, high value spend categories, with technical complexity
