About The Role

  • As Communications Assistant, you will focus on our Hair Care, Environmental Care, Professional, Floorcare and Lighting categories across key launch periods and high impact moments. You will have the flexibility to pivot priorities as our company develops and grows.
  • Be a team player with a positive mental attitude. You will collaborate with the wider GB&I Communications team, global Communications and your market stakeholders across brand, marketing, digital media, insights and retail
  • Focus on media relationships and influencer engagement in the UK market. Be responsible for building best in class relationships with key stakeholders, journalists, influencers and focus on creating unforgettable stories about our technology.
  • Be an agile thinker and eloquent in your communication. You must be comfortable to regularly pitch to media new stories, features and angles, focusing on our technology.
  • Be proactive and passionate. Strong understanding of the beauty, wellness, and technology industry.
  • Thrive in a high performing environment. You will have the ability to juggle a high volume of workload and identify priorities and problem solve.
  • The ability to be flexible. Willing and able to work on projects outside of your comfort zone and be agile and open.
  • Strong writing skills. Be able to regularly write local stories for the Dyson Newsroom in line with commercial priorities.
  • Contribute to ideas/brainstorms/pitches outside of projects you are directly working on.
  • Attend events/functions to network with industry colleagues.
  • Collation, reporting and analysis of coverage and campaign status and effectiveness
  • Confident negotiator and excellent influencing and interpersonal skills.

About You

  • Main accountability will be to provide support to the communications team, ensuring the smooth running of the press office
  • Monitor the press office inbox and flag all enquiries that are relevant to GB&I (plus flagging to the corporate team when enquiries come through for them)
  • Brainstorming ideas for PR campaigns, general administration
  • Create and manage a GB&I asset bank. Assist with the development of all press office materials, including press releases, fact sheets, product launch recaps and presentations
  • Action all media and influencer sample orders and populate the tracker. Monitoring for earned editorial and social coverage from the media and influencers once their machines have arrived - and managing creative mailouts for new launches
  • Respond to journalists requests for product information and imagery (where appropriate)
  • Manage couriers and book travel (for the team, media, and influencers)
  • Assist with the organisation of press and influencer trips and events, as well as internal events
  • Assist with photo and video shoots
  • Develop relationships with assistants, writers, and editors at relevant key media titles
  • Keeping abreast of journalist movers and shakers alerts and ensuring the media lists are up to date
  • Raising all POs for the GB&I team and ensuring suppliers are paid on time as well as onboarding new suppliers
  • Create mood boards, casting decks and presentations as required
  • Reading key editorial tiles and highlighting opportunities for Dyson, and what our competitors are doing to keep them in the news 
  • Identifying topical trends in the news agenda that are relevant for Dyson and coming up with reactive news gen ideas to help Dyson capitalise on the opportunities   
  • Creating coverage wrap reports at the end of campaigns, highlighting key results from the team 
  • Writing influencer briefing documents for campaigns 
  • Identifying influencers and content creators that Dyson should be working with  
  • 5 days a week based at our London Press Office (38 North Row) with weekly travel to our UK Innovation Campus in Malmesbury.
