About the role
Dyson research is looking for Consumer Research - Senior Manager to lead our consumer behaviour research at the start of our research and development process. The role will lead a growing consumer research team responsible for defining and delivering diverse research across all of Dyson's categories both current and future. This is a pivotal role, generating the deep insight into consumer behaviour and perception that will focus product performance and technology as well as highlighting new areas of opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery of structured and strategic consumer research portfolio across Dyson's Product categories. This will use qualitative and quantitative methods including novel approaches such as virtual reality, eye tracking and the latest in semitotic and ethnographic strategies to bring to life consumer behaviour
Technical leadership, development and recruitment of a specialist team including management of projects delivering critical insights on user perception and habits in all Dyson’s Product areas. This will include fundamental research in new categories that are strategic targets for Dyson
Analyse study findings, summarise insights and communicate these to the highest levels at Dyson
Develop new capabilities, tools, partners and strategies worthy of world class consumer product research
Liaise with both research and design teams to ensure the effective delivery of key insights into future projects and research directions
Proactively identify research areas that would further Dyson's understanding and generate impactful insights influencing product and technology portfolios
Contribute to category strategies and range plans, actively promoting consumer benefits.
About you
Experience of leading teams to successfully deliver consumer research into upstream development.
Strong people focus with demonstrated experience facilitating personal development and growth within your team
Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to expertly translate consumer insight into actional outputs for design and technical research teams, mangers, directors and Sir James Dyson
Strong degree in relevant discipline or industry experience with demonstrated learning equivalencies.
Developed understanding of core consumer science research principles. Able to specify methodologies and approaches and effectively evaluate results, summaries findings and make recommendations of actions.
Good problem-solving ability, with a logical approach to fit within a technical environment.
Motivated by continual learning, not constrained by current methodologies or industry norms.
Good organisational skills, able to prioritise tasks for self and team, planning ahead to maximise impact of budget and resource.
