Dyson has established a regional hub office in Auckland to manage the New Zealand market.  The business will scale rapidly over the next 5 years and we are building the team who will grow this business. This is an exciting time to join Dyson and play a pivotal role in the strategic expansion plan for New Zealand

About the Role

The purpose of the Country Manager role is to lead the New Zealand (NZ) consumer business for Dyson; developing the Dyson brand across NZ as an innovative, technology-led premium brand. As Country Manager, you will be tasked with growing market share, sales and profits sustainably, across channels; and to leverage full retail potential for all product categories.

The NZ market is not new to Dyson but still we will be looking to this individual to leverage their knowledge, experience and networks to drive awareness, presence and growth.

Main responsibilities include but not limited to:-

  • Take the lead in establishing the new form of business in NZ and ensure the office is well set-up and fully functioning as a Dyson office

  • Attract talent to build the team and collaborate with colleagues across Australia and Group to bring expertise and adapt best practice to the local markets

  • Establish relations with key partners and work in partnership with Australian leadership community to deploy the business strategy for APAC

  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing team in Australia to learn and adopt best practice to the NZ market

  • Network with key stakeholders at Group and across APAC to deploy the sales and marketing plans, and execution model, and educate colleagues on the needs and behaviours of NZ market

  • Develop strategies in partnership with counter-parts to deliver both in-store and online sales

  • Create action plans to deliver 18-month and 5-year strategy and annual plans

  • Ensure the consistent development of sales and marketing strategies that drive the business to meet business goals and objectives

  • Drive effective channel strategies and range strategies with retailers/distributors to maximise and optimise Dyson profitably in line with market goals, and expand channels at the right pace

  • Work with Marketing, PR and Finance colleagues to make integrated business plans for growth

  • Manage business to maximise profitability and reduce variability

  • Take the fight for product leadership to competitors and exploit fully our technological advantages

About You

To be successful in this role you will have methodical business planning capabilities and a high level of communication skills both written and verbal. You are a strong team player who is capable of building and motivating teams, possess excellent influencing and negotiation skills and proven executional strength. You are decisive, assertive and prepared to see through plans and overcome objectives.

Previous skills & experience:-

  • Solid experience in a sales focused role, as P&L owner for a company, or as a leader of a significant business segment within

  • Past work experience should be mainly of working with established multinational companies in Australia/ New Zealand

  • Some experience demonstrating a start-up mentality will be advantageous

  • Commercial – sales/marketing
