About the role

As Data Analyst, sitting in the Insights Team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the success and growth of Dyson. 
You will be responsible for driving Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM), on the one hand by ensuring clean and consistent data quality of a variety of sources from across the business, and on the other hand by conducting quantitative analysis and giving precise, actionable and strategic recommendations. You will be critical for the success of Marketing Mix Modelling, mainly by setting up clean data streams, conducting simulations and optimising Marketing plans. Your precise and actionable recommendations derived from MMM and other analysis will have impact on budget allocation across categories and channels to maximize ROI.
In this position, it is key to understand business processes and drivers of Marketing effectiveness, identify main drivers of business performance and work out recommendations for improvements and efficiency gains as well as spotting trends and opportunities. A successful person in this position will be able to see the world from a marketing, business, as well as from an analyst perspective. 
This position will require a high degree of collaboration with cross-functional teams and data owners (Sales, Digital and Retail Marketing, BI&A, Finance, PR, Owner Experience and Supply Chain).  Dyson is a fast paced and dynamic culture – an ideal candidate in this role will be an innovative self-starter looking to make an immediate impact, working autonomously, and drive transformation through (data) insights.
Specifically, you will be responsible for the following pillars:
Data Cleaning & Data Management 
  • Align with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on raw data structure, and document clear data requirements
  • Making improvements and efficiencies to existing data sources and feeds, specifically through programming and automation
  • Check and optimize data quality of large and complex data sets 
  • You help to set standards on raw data, tools and methods to increase quality of data and analyses of other analysts in the organization
  • Partner with Sales, Digital and Retail Marketing, BI&A, Finance, PR, Owner Experience and Supply Chain teams to build models and data pipelines that both answer key questions in relation to the respective business units as well as allow automated data feeds into statistical Marketing models
  • Being a trusted peer to data owners and analysts across the business
  • Constant alignment and follow-up with multitude of stakeholders

Reporting, Measurement and Analysis
  • Conduct deep dive and ad-hoc analysis, investigate specific issues using data and insights from multiple sources and business functions: From MMM to digital performance and website data, sellout, consumer and competitor behavior (digital and offline), price development, desk research and more
  • Develop target group and market potential insights for category teams to feed into growth plans
  • Conduct simulations and optimizations using MMM to enable timely and accurate data driven Marketing decisions
  • Analyze efficiency of Marketing activities across channels
  • Relish the opportunity to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role
  • Identify problems and find solutions, and proactively use data to help drive Dyson strategy
  • Work with media agencies, media team and Marketing leads to ensure that appropriate mechanisms are in place to measure the impact and effectiveness of media onto business performance
  • Ensure that reporting delivers business insight that can be used to optimize campaigns on the go, as well as driving test initiatives and the development of future campaigns

  • Provide data-driven recommendations focused on profitability to (Digital) Marketing and Senior Management for short- and long-term planning of Marketing and Sales activities, board reviews, Channel Management, new product launches and similar ad-hoc and strategic topics
  • Drive further development of Marketing Attribution/Marketing Mix Modeling together with agency
  • Deliver training to end users centered on the consumption of the analytics you deploy
  • Acting as internal consultant and business partner as well as bridge between business and technical
  • Prepare and present regular business reviews based on learnings (from MMM and other data analysis) to support agile business profitability and growth
  • Support planning and decision-making with a focus on the effectiveness of investments

About you

  • University degree in Economics, Statistics, Psychology, business informatics or other analytical discipline
  • 3 – 5 years of work experience in highly analytical role, demonstrating competence in data cleaning and statistical analytics, optimally already exposure to MMM or other modelling  
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills at all stakeholder levels 
  • Ability to manipulate large and complex data sets
  • Ability to distil complex analytics into simple themes that are appropriate for non-technical stakeholders
  • A passion for identifying and solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches and for translating your insights into data-driven and actionable recommendations serving business growth
  • Organized, delivery focused and comfortable working autonomously on own initiative
  • You deal well with changing priorities, yet have close attention to detail 
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience in solving problems programmatically, preferably with Python, and preferably also experience in other data management tools like Tableau, Power BI, SPSS
  • Basic SQL skills are a benefit
  • Previous experience with external market and competitor data tools such as GfK, Nielsen, SimilarWeb, Adthena, or comparable are a benefit
