Our Data Team

As the ‘hub’ team delivering the data, technology and community provision enabling Dyson’s global data and analytics capabilities, Global Data Function (GDF) have end-to-end responsibility for data; from foundations (DQ, MDM) to management (data platforms, integrations), to value realisation (analytics enablement and data science).

The team is a multi-disciplinary, global team providing round-the-clock development and operations – including product and project management, community enablement, governance, data architecture, data engineering, data science, and analytics expertise.

Involved with every aspect of Dyson’s global business - from finance to product development, manufacturing to owner experience – data is enjoying record-breaking investment and mandate for 2022 and beyond, seeking to deliver solutions generating impressive and tangible business value.

The role

This new role within the Data Strategy & Product Management team will deliver senior leadership across the Enterprise portfolio of data products – spanning business areas including Finance, Legal, People/HR, Dyson Business Services. The Data Strategy Manager will lead a small team of Data Product Managers, collectively developing and delivering roadmaps of data and analytics capabilities, according to business needs and opportunities.  

The Data Strategy Manager will have a high degree of autonomy to shape the future utilisation of data and analytics within the Enterprise  business functions, working alongside analytics leaders in both Group functions and Markets, as well as directly with business end-users for opportunities where a dedicated analytics team is not in place.

With responsibility to scope, propose, and secure investment for the Enterprise data product portfolio, success for the Data Strategy Manager will rely on a foundation of effective relationships with senior stakeholders across Dyson globally, including with Executive and Senior Staff Group members. Fast and effective assessment of business needs, and potential high-level solution options, will be required to ensure the timely delivery of differentiating capabilities. The Data Strategy Manager will be responsible for maintaining an overall view of the value delivered by data and analytics across Enterprise, to support justification of current and future investments.

In order to ensure the Enterprise data product portfolio is aligned to the overarching ambitions of the Global Data Function, the Data Strategy Manager will benefit from a strong holistic understanding of the strategy of all pillars within the function. As one of a very few truly central and cross-functional roles at Dyson, the Data Strategy Manager will have a unique view into many technical, non-technical, and business initiatives – numerous opportunities for collaboration and cross-pollination are known to exist, but remain largely untapped.  

The Data Strategy Manager will, directly or indirectly, manage the delivery of…

  • Existing data products – working with operations teams to ensure continued delivery, and development/technical teams to realise opportunities for evolution and enhancement
  • Emerging data products – supporting the transition of data products from development into operational support, and participating in business change activities where appropriate
  • Brand new data products – identifying business opportunities and/or translating business needs into data product proposals, and progressing these proposals through business case development and investment approval, to kick-off and delivery   

Reporting to the Head of Data Strategy & Product Management, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the senior point of contact within the Global Data Function for all aspects related to the Enterprise business functions
  • Balancing potentially competing priorities and objectives within to maximise value for Dyson - through resilience, tenacity and innovation
  • Developing roadmaps of value-focussed capabilities utilising data and analytics, in collaboration with stakeholders across the business, and the Global Data Function
  • Securing investment (£millions/year) for the development data and analytics capabilities, measuring ROI against these, and messaging successes to the Global Data Function and wider business
  • Ensuring capabilities are developed in line with best practice approaches, via collaboration with technical sub-disciplines within the Global Data Function
  • All aspects of line management of a small team of Data Product Managers
  • Acting as a delegate for the Head of Data Strategy & Data Product Management as required
  • Contributing to the efforts of the Global Data Function to build a collaborative community across Dyson’s data and analytics teams globally, and to progress the level of data literacy within Dyson

Person specification / Core Competencies:

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, including with Executive team members
  • Comfortable with, and resilience to, a high pace environment
  • Excellent personal organisation, with proven ability to elicit requirements, generate a plan, and execute against it
  • Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver challenging project outcomes to ambitious timescales
  • Demonstrable applied knowledge of multiple aspects within data & analytics
  • Outstanding commercial/organisational awareness and advanced knowledge of the typical business functions within a large organisation - what their respective roles are, and how they relate


  • Significant experience in an Enterprise or Enterprise facing role, leveraging business intelligence, data analytics or data science
  • Excellent influencing and relationship building skills - with colleagues from a variety of technical and non-technical disciplines
  • Demonstrable track record securing large scale investments via pitching/presenting to groups of senior (including Executive) stakeholders
  • Good working knowledge of data platforms, analytical tools and approaches


  • A Bachelor’s or advanced degree is preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working within an organisation operating a federated analytics model
  • While programming knowledge is not required, a demonstrable interest in and/or experience with data/analytics related technologies is a plus (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Google Cloud Platform)
  • While competency with analytics tools is not required, a demonstrable interest in and/or experience with data visualisation tools is a plus (e.g. Tableau, Looker)
