At Dyson we are encouraged to think differently, challenge convention and be unafraid to make mistakes. We’re engineers, creative, collaborative, practical and enthusiastic, but most of all, we’re hugely passionate about what we do. We push the boundaries of what others have defined as possible. • Discover and understand technical risks; and suggest and initiate mitigations

  • Utilise and create suitable verification and validation methods to assess the design during development

  • Challenge & develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve technologies/design/product quality

  • Take an active, hands-on role to ensure that all engineering problems are resolved thoroughly

  • Mentor graduates, engineers and DIET students

  • Take a lead in regular design reviews with Design Managers and the Concepts Director

  • Take an active role in design reviews with James Dyson and/or Executive, as required

About you:

  • Proven experience of delivering robust design solutions from concept to production

  • Proven ability to iterate a design through a hands-on design, build, test and evaluation approach.

  • A degree in product design / mechanical engineering or equivalent

  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of product design, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic physical principles

  • Knowledge and understanding of common manufacturing processes

  • Proven ability to communicate through 2 and 3 dimensional media, e.g., presentations, sketching, CAD, model making / prototyping
