Design Managers are expected to drive for results using a flexible, challenging and diligent approach.


In 2022, Dyson launched its Wearables category with the flagship air purifying headphones, the Dyson Zone. We are looking for a Design Manager / Senior Design Manager to support in-market products as we continue to aggressively expand into this exciting new opportunity area for Dyson.


This position is based in Singapore, in St James Power Station, reporting directly to the Wearables Category Director.


About the role 

  • Focusing on Category profit and loss, identify activities to enhance return on investment for in-market products to maximise profitability.

  • Identify and prioritise ‘lifecycle projects’ (LX) for in-market products. These projects should improve profitability, reliability, customer experience, and/or supply-chain resilience.

  • Deliver the above projects through leadership of a cross-functional team (mechanical, software, hardware, quality, operations). Depending on the candidate, we may look to establish a small team of direct line reports to support the scale of the above projects.

  • Work with Commercial teams to develop a vision for product range in each market, balancing the needs of markets with asset depreciation.

  • Collaborate with Category Planning team to provide insight on revenue opportunities (both strategic and tactical).

  • Work with the Supply planning teams to ensure market volume requirements are met and NPD is launched efficiently to the markets. Represent Category at supply planning forums to manage inventory in markets.

  • Prepare content and chair monthly Category Lifecycle Meeting; an executive forum attended by senior Dyson business leaders.

  • Key interfaces – Engineering Directors, Quality Category Heads, Operations, Supply & Demand Planning, Commercial GTM, Portfolio Management & Category Heads of Department.


About you   

  • Degree in Engineering or Science or demonstrate equivalent experience. 

  • Strong proven track record of project delivery and design leadership

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, operations, and inventory planning.

  • Understanding of Commercial ranging and portfolio planning.

  • Effective at global working.

  • Willing to travel between UK and SEA, as well as ad-hoc travel to Dyson market teams globally.

  • Strong ability to lead teams and influence for results across organization.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Competent at presenting to the most senior levels of the business.
