About us
Dyson’s multidisciplinary Energy Storage development team is responsible for delivering cells from early prototypes in the UK, through to volume manufacture in a Singapore plant. The cells that the team deliver will push the boundaries of performance, power density, and efficiency. These cells will drive new high value Dyson products with step improvements over our competitors. In conjunction to developing a cell, the team will be responsible for process development, equipment realisation and facility set up jointly with our manufacturing and operational teams.
About the role
The Project Manager will work in close collaboration with the Energy Storage cell development team, Global IT, Cyber Security, Consultants, Finance and manufacturing team to ensure that Digital Twin is being planned, delivered as per the business case, where subsequently will be implemented in the new facility. Further to this, the incumbent plays a pivotal role in engaging with different stakeholders, internally and externally, with conflicting timelines. It is the responsibility of the role to evaluate, along with the stakeholders, the delivery of the Digital Twin element which will enable the most successful cell and manufacturing performance.
Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, key responsibilities include the following:
Responsible for planning, delivering and optimizing the Digital Twin component of the battery technology and manufacturing processes, as well as implementing the relevant Industry 4.0/Factory of the Future approaches to support a world leading manufacturing process
Working closely with the appointment consultant, and teams of internal supporting functions, such as Global IT, Cyber Security, Estates, Manufacturing, Procurement, Operational and other Project Managers, taking full responsibility for the Digital Twin component deliverables, timeline and budget.
Responsible to establish clear boundaries required for the business applications and the battery/manufacturing digital twin processes.
Responsible to integrate the digital twin component into the timeline and delivery approach of the wider Energy Storage Programme.
To act as the key, day-to-day stakeholder interface with other team, by ensuring that Dyson business objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate technology specification.
Establish, maintain, communicate and execute project management plans to manage the vendors and deliver the programme component as per the overall program roadmap.
Provide insight to the Dyson senior leadership to make well informed strategic decisions, through the timely communication of the relative technical and commercial progress of the manufacturing and delivery of equipment.
Ensure the Digital Twin component’s timeline is aligned with cell development and facilities timelines.
Delivery
Responsible to prepare and deliver project management plan for the Digital Twin component, that are highly optimised for volume manufacture, delivering world Factory of the Future to support a world leading manufacturing process.
Responsible to delivery the work required by Global IT to make the Energy Storage Programme successful, and align the Digital Twin timescales within the wider Energy Programme Plan.
Early identification and mitigation of cost, time, and specification risks through use of registers and project communications
Define and deliver to plans that are highly integrated and aligned with other components of the overall Energy Storage Programme.
Provides leadership and direction to vendors to deliver equipment/solutions as per plan and specification.
Capability
An articulate Project Management leader with the ability to balance commercial objectives against project compliance requirements.
Capable of leading vendors and optimizing their equipment lead times.
Knowledge on Digital twin domains such as factory production simulation, energy management for production or building facility, manufacturing execution system (MES), Cyber Security, etc.
Familiar with industry 4.0 technologies such as predictive maintenance, cloud solution, big data analysis and visualization.
Good knowledge on IT applications and platforms development such as database development, cloud services, web solution, mobile applications, system architect design.
Familiar with IT Agile development methodology and ideally hold at least one IT architecture certificates such as TOGEF, CSA, etc.
Good knowledge of performance management of contracts.
Ability to work in an agile manner with other stakeholders in a dispersed multi-disciplined environment.
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, with an ability to develop, communicate and gain ownership for a clear vision and direction.
Robust under pressure and able to work to tight and conflicting deadlines.
Contributes to teamwork and a willingness to work in a spirit of partnership.
Outstanding interpersonal communication skills. Ability to convey complex issues concisely and accurately.

About you
First Degree (Engineering preferable) or equivalent
Formal Project Management training/ qualifications/certification are desirable but not essential
Minimum of 5 - 7 years project management in a similar engineering field demonstrating good knowledge of the complete project life cycle
Develops coherent plans, priorities and accountabilities across the team
Proactively collaborates across teams and functions to ensure synchronisation within the teams.
