Dyson - Associate Communications Manager - Chicago (Hybrid)

The Dyson US Communications team is in search of an Associate Communications Manager to oversee the communications strategy and execution for our Environmental Care category. This category includes Dyson’s purifiers, humidifiers, fans, heaters and lighting technology. Reporting to the US Communications Lead, the Associate Communications Manager will take the lead on launching all Environmental Care products and manage year-round media relations activities for the category. There will be additional opportunities throughout the year to support on cross-category activities. This team member will also be responsible for the Dyson US Newsroom, managing the content calendar, writing content and leading on page development.

About the role:

Lead in the development, execution and measurement of communications strategies for the Environmental Care category to share Dyson news and elevate Dyson’s reputation externally.

Collaborate with the Specialist to ensure accurate monitoring, collating, recording, and communicating press coverage to the US and contribute to Global reporting.

Develop a proactive, always-on media relations strategy for the Environmental Care category. Take the lead in executing media strategies day-to-day to secure regular, positive coverage about Dyson technology, the benefits of Dyson machines, timely events, cultural moments, and more. 

Work with the Influencer and Content Partnerships Manager to effectively use these channels to support your category.

Manage inbound media and influencer inquires to the Dyson PR inbox.

Recommend new areas and angles to stimulate awareness of Dyson, its technology, and its philosophies in the US.

Bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to the team and our ways of working.

Lead new product launch events and activations.

Plan and execute launch plans for new products. This will include logistical items such as event planning or scheduling media attendees for the launch, as well as tactical pitching to secure coverage for the launch.

Work closely with the Internal Communications Lead and to plan and execute engaging events for Dyson people.

Effectively communicate and collaborate with other departments within Dyson to ensure maximum impact.

Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal partners in marketing and sales to ensure effective collaboration and sharing of communications plans with key stakeholders across the business.

Be the local expert, spotting trends and sharing new ideas and opportunities with the Americas and global PR team.

Be an active part of our global Communications team – share best practices and new ideas, keep an eye on what’s working in other markets and how we can translate their successes to the US, and more.

Fulfill other duties as necessary.

Lead in the improvement and growth of the US Newsroom.

About You:

  • Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in managing projects from start to finish
  • Demonstrates understanding of marketing activities
  • Media relations experience is a bonus
