The Floorcare Electronics System Integration team, based in Malmesbury, England, is responsible for developing and integrating cutting-edge electronic hardware for new and pioneering Dyson Floorcare products. We solve the problems others choose to ignore, developing disruptive technologies that require increasingly complex electronics solutions to deliver Dyson’s rapidly expanding global product portfolio.

About the role

The role will require a highly motivated, creative, methodical and flexible person, ready to take on challenges with a pragmatic approach. You will work in multi-disciplinary global project teams to develop integrated electronics solutions for new and pioneering consumer appliance products within Dyson’s Floorcare category. You will gain invaluable experience working with Dyson’s Research and New Product Innovation teams to investigate and develop novel ideas. You may also provide mentoring to less experienced Engineers in the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop analogue and digital electronic circuits.

  • Work with the team to integrate electronics solutions at system and product levels.

  • Participate in design reviews, technical risk analyses, troubleshooting and investigations to proactively solve complex engineering problems.

  • Test and verify electronics solutions.

  • Produce detailed engineering materials including design schematics, PCB layouts, tolerance analyses, design notes, FMEA, failure analysis reports and technical review documents.

  • Liaise and collaborate with various Dyson engineering teams (Mechanical, Compliance, Reliability, Software, Manufacturing, Test, etc) across the UK and South East Asia to develop new Dyson products.

  • Contribute towards electronics development process improvement activities.

  • Mentor less experienced Engineers in the team.

About you

As an Electronics Engineer, you will have at least a bachelor-level degree in a discipline which contains a significant focus on Electronics Engineering. You will be capable of working with moderate supervision and guidance from senior engineering staff to generate high quality analogue and digital circuit design solutions. Preferably you will have some experience designing electronics for consumer products in mass production.

  • Degree qualified in a relevant electronics discipline.

  • At least one year of experience developing analogue and digital circuits, preferably through multiple product development cycles.

  • Circuit simulation skills to support design calculations, tolerance analyses and documentation.

  • Practiced using standard electronics laboratory and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, AC/DC power sources, power meters, etc.

  • Preferably experience in Design QA, DFM, DFX and DFMEA.

  • Experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software such as Mentor Graphics.

  • Knowledge of home appliance safety requirements and regulatory certification at PCBA and product levels, including EMC/ESD, would be an advantage.

  • Highly motivated and self-driven with good communication skills.
