Dyson has an opportunity for power electronics engineers to join the highly successful Power Electronics and Energy Storage group. The Power Electronics and Energy Storage group is a multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of Dyson Digital Motors and Lithium Ion battery management. Dyson Digital Motors are small and light, yet extremely powerful; they power the next generation of cord free vacuum cleaners as well as the next generation of personal care products. Dyson battery management systems provide the high power energy sources required to power the category leading cord free, robot and personal care products.

About the role

  • Responsible for Electronics Labs & Battery Labs Management, Equipment Management & Calibration, Lab Safety and 7S.

  • Responsible to define labs policy, safe operating procedure & guideline, work closely with Health & Safety Engineer to define risk assessment for the labs.

  • Responsible for the management of the technician team’s plans to deliver task assigned by engineers.

  • Responsible for tracking activities against plan and responding to them.

  • Guide and supervise electronics technician team for their day to day support and lab activities.

  • Responsible for lab consumable parts purchase order.

  • Allocate and define task to technician and labs management.

  • Support Power Electronics Engineers in validating electronic circuits in Dyson products, measurement of electrical parameters and test setup monitoring include handling of Lithium Ion battery pack and cells.

  • Support failure investigation and generate analysis report.

  • Support test rig build, samples and prototype build to engineers.

  • Reporting to Power Electronics and Energy Storage Engineering Manager.

About you

A minimum of Degree or Advance Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is required, reinforced with practical engineering experience and preferably has experience working in RDD electronics environment.

  • The candidate must have good practical skills in electronic engineering and troubleshooting skills.

  • An ability to execute a test independently, from setup to result reporting is necessary.

  • A good level of literacy and numeracy is needed together with analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is required with particular emphasis on the use of Excel for recording results that can be graphically demonstrated.

  • Good at communicating at all levels and able to work in a self motivated way as well as in a team

  • Familiarity in the operation of electronic test equipment, lab management and good soldering skill is preferable.

  • Knowledge in handling lithium ion battery pack or equivalent would be advantage.

  • Preferably more than 5 years working experience in electronic industry with a proven track record of professional approach to solving engineering problems.

  • Familiarity in the operation of basic electronic test equipment such as digital storage oscilloscopes, function generators, power analyzers, etc.

  • Experience in leading group of technician and lab management.
