Dyson has an opportunity for power electronics engineers to join the highly successful Power Electronics and Energy Storage group. The Power Electronics and Energy Storage group is a multidisciplinary team responsible for the development of Dyson Digital Motors and Lithium Ion battery management. Dyson Digital Motors are small and light, yet extremely powerful; they power the next generation of cord free vacuum cleaners as well as the next generation of personal care products. Dyson battery management systems provide the high power energy sources required to power the category leading cord free, robot and personal care products.

About the role

  • Support Power Electronics Engineers in validating electronic circuits in Dyson products, measurement of electrical parameters and test setup monitoring include handling of Lithium Ion battery pack and cells.

  • Support Engineers in rig/jig setup, wiring and troubleshooting.

  • Support Engineers in safety compliance related tests like open/short, EMC, ESD testing.

  • Support Senior Technician and Lap Supervisor in Lab management, safety operating, 7S, and equipment maintenance.

  • Support failure investigation and generate analysis report.

  • Support test rig build, samples and prototype build to engineers.

  • Reporting to Power Electronics and Energy Storage Lab Supervisor.

About you

  • A minimum of Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is required, reinforced with practical engineering experience.
  • The candidate must have good practical skills in electronics engineering.

  • An ability to execute a test independently, from setup to result reporting is necessary.

  • A good level of literacy and numeracy is needed together with analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office is required with particular emphasis on the use of Excel for recording results that can be graphically demonstrated.

  • Good at communicating at all levels and able to work in a self-motivated way as well as in a team.

  • Familiarity in the operation of electronic test equipment.

  • Good soldering skills and wiring skills is preferable.

  • Basic electronics schematics reading and troubleshooting skills is preferable.

  • Ability to work on a number of tasks concurrently without losing focus.

  • Preferably 1-2 years working experience in RDD electronics industry with a proven track record of professional approach to solving engineering problems.

  • Familiarity in the operation of basic electronic test equipment such as AC power source, data logger, Climatic chamber, digital oscilloscopes, function generators, power analyzers, etc.
