EMEA Head of eCom Development


We’re growing – fast. The ambition eCom business is huge. Our goal is to consistently grow our eCommerce business double digit year on year for next 5 years. Dyson is about better ideas and better technologies, as the EMEA Head of eCom Development you will be accountable for the performance of the region via developing and delivering strategies on people, content, journeys, and platform.

Description of the Role

At Dyson our Owner is central to everything we do and your role will make sure that owners are getting fantastic experience on our EMEA websites

As an EMEA region we are growing quickly across an array of complex and different markets. From GB, our home markets where we’ve been to 30 years to new markets we’ll open up this year and in the future. Central to our success will be our ability to develop our people, our proposition, our platform, our content and our journeys. This role oversees and is accountable for delivering these pillars.  This role sits within our regional structure and while this team ultimately reports to Region it has accountability to Group eCom Team.


Dyson is a fast paced and agile company. This is an example of your main accountabilities but is not a complete list.

The role is designed to enable the development of our Direct eCommerce business. These will be led by supported by you directly and your team (4 direct, team of 11)

  • Developing People: You’ll set the training agenda for our EMEA eCom teams, setting up and running our eCom academy, this will focus on centralised training for new hires to eCom, accelerating learning curves of people joining management positions in eCom and deepening the knowledge of existing eCom talent.
  • Developing Proven commercial models: You’ll be EMEA commercial partner for regional and global strategies such as Live shopping and our Owner Retention strategy, either directly feeding into these or setting the strategy to make this happen.
  • Developing journeys: You are accountable for delivering best practice on consumer journeys and for scaling proven journey optimisation tools such as Help me Chose and enhanced Adobe Features. Your team will execute these in partnership with market. As you do this you’ll work closely with group and COE on best practice and creative governance.
  • Developing Content: You will have two teams of content execs sitting under an Experience Manager that develop content on our websites, disproportionately supporting smaller and medium markets. The purpose of these teams is to accelerate performance of market eCom sites via content projects  beyond what they can achieve today. Examples of this are developing SEO, site search, site speed etc.
  • Developing Platform: You will have one dotted line report who formally reports to group teams but will be based in Amsterdam and sit in your leadership team. You are accountable through them of driving the regions needs on our eCom platform enhancement. This will require complex stakeholder management and making tough decisions on where the biggest priorities sit.
  • Project oversight and management: Working with transformation, IT, supply chain as needed on delivering projects that improve performance of our eCom business.
  • Partnership with regional teams and our centres of excellence in driving eCom agenda.
  • Partner MD and markets on eCom team needs: Support in nurturing talent in the markets either directly via coaching and development or by overseeing delivery of regional projects led in the market.
  • eCom trading: As a commercial eCom team we are accountable for regional performance, this will require you and the whole team to be flexible to flow to priorities that help us hit our targets.

Skills & Competencies.

  • Owner first Mind-set: You’ll understand and think first and foremost what these plans and actions do for our owners.
  • Proven team leader and people manager, experience managing and leading complex teams, nurturing talent and managing poor performance as needed.
  • Strategic Thinker: proven ability to set and implement digital strategy, leading a team as you do so in balancing long term vision with short term deliverables.
  • Comfortable with complexity and change: Ability to navigate and influence in matrix structure and react quickly to make changes based on latest market trends and dynamics.
  • Significant experience in eCom roles- ideally in premium branded products or in eretail is preferable
  • Strong communicator: Able to clearly communicate technical issues in a simple laymen’s terminology. Ability to flex style and communication to different levels of the organisation.
  • Keen eye for detail particularly within a digital setting
  • Has a bias for action and to get things done with a positive attitude
  • Fluent in English another European language is a bonus.
