Employment Tax Analyst

About Us:


This role involves working in the company’s ‘Tax & Treasury’ team, part of the Finance function at this large multinational UK head quartered business, reporting to the Group Employment Tax Manager.  The work is varied with a good balance of ‘written’ and ‘numbers’ based work and provides an opportunity for the right individual to gain experience in the world of Employment and Expatriate taxation in an ‘In-house’ role.

About the Role: 

  • Monthly intercompany recharge reconciliation, working with payroll and the intercompany team to ensure employment costs are charged appropriately for the International Assignment programme.
  • Monthly balance sheet account reconciliation. Determination of the appropriate intercompany recharge applicable to tax return payments and refunds, voluntary NIC payments and ensuring these are charged to the correct entity within the group.
  • Raising of appropriate journals on the company’s accounting system.
  • Preparation of UK shadow payroll calculations for assignees working in the UK and instruction to payroll to facilitate payment.
  • Global compensation gathering to facilitate tax return preparation and shadow payrolls operated  by third party advisors as required by our international assignment programme
  • Preparation of Modified National Insurance calculations for UK outbound assignees.
  • Monitoring and tracking of short term business visitors for the global group of companies.
  • Analysis of external suppliers fees to ensure we receive best value for money from our suppliers.
  • Voluntary National Insurance applications
  • General house-keeping duties such as evaluation of tax codes, NIC rules, tracking of tax return payments / refunds
  • Establish tracking processes for global tax return compliance
  • Assistance with ad-hoc queries from around the business as and when they arise.
  • Routine record keeping and administration of electronic and paper files.

About You:   

The successful candidate should already be working in a finance role and would be AAT/ATT qualified.  Although Employment tax knowledge is an advantage, it is not essential as ‘in-house’ training will be provided.  Successful candidates will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to use their own initiative, be highly organised and able to work under their own direction.  This company thrives on disruption.  To be comfortable with working in a fast moving, dynamic environment will serve the successful candidate well.  Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are essential.
