About the role
We are looking for an Engineering Laboratory Technician to join the UK Design Engineering Team. Working alongside RDD teams to produce exciting and disruptive products you will play a key role in supporting the development team designing solutions for market leading cord-free and robot vacuum cleaners.
Acting as a lab owner you will be part of a multi-disciplined team organising and maintaining an engineering laboratory ensuring it is kept fully operational and maintained. In this role you will also be involved in the building and testing of prototypes to demonstrate latest Floorcare technology, innovative features and performance gains working on our next generation products. Striving to solve problems for people globally and design for a diverse range of user needs and home environments. Our approach enables us to trial and review designs quickly to deliver authentic, different, and pioneering products.

Accountabilities
Act as a lab owner in organising and maintaining an engineering laboratory ensuring it is kept fully operational, maintained, and resourceful.
Assist Engineers with build of prototype assemblies and investigative testing under specified conditions.
Ensure all lab equipment is calibrated and PAT tested to meet Health and Safety requirements.
Compile and upkeep documents such as COSHH and lab Risk Assessments.
Recording test results and experimental data accurately, documenting in electronic or written formats.
Carry out 7s weekly audits and implement procedures for continuous lab improvements.
Purchasing responsibilities for the lab and engineering projects, including consumables, equipment, and materials, using a purchase card and SAP Ariba ordering platform.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy.
Ensure lab security and confidentiality is maintained to uphold Dyson values.
About you
Sound understanding and practical knowledge of fundamental engineering principles.
Experience of building and testing prototype parts and assemblies within an engineering environment.
The ability to learn and follow specific test methods.
Ability to use technical equipment with attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously.

Ability to follow standard laboratory operating procedures to promote a safe working environment.
Creative problem solver with the ability to multitask in a rapidly changing situation.
A good understanding and practical knowledge of mechanical principles - electrical knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.
