About the role 

Dyson has an opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our multidisciplinary Motor Drive and Advanced Control Group developing motors for Dyson’s cord-free floor care and personal care range of products.

We are expanding our Global motor drives team and are seeking an individual to join us.  You must be a confident people leader with strong management skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the global motor drives team, technically steered by Principal Engineers, apply your planning techniques to deliver projects from early concepts to mass production.

  • Provide planning/resource estimation to aid product level planning.

  • Support change request and risk management including issue escalation.

  • Represent the motor drives team in product level and other manager level meetings

  • Provide line management responsibilities for the UK team. This includes performance management and goal setting.

  • Closely collaborating with other team managers from other disciplines to bring motor and associated systems to life.

About you 

  • People leadership and coaching skills

  • Ability to plan and estimate project tasks both top level and at a detailed task level.

  • Experience of varied management techniques.

  • A good understanding of motor design iterations within a product development environment including test and validation.

  • At least 5 years professional experience in a relevant industry.

  • A good understanding of requirements capture and management.

  • Hardware development knowledge.

  • Software development knowledge.

  • Knowledge of motor control systems.

  • Knowledge of electromagnetic design.

  • Experience of design for manufacture.

  • Experience of systems engineering is desirable, but not essential.
