About the role
An Engineering Manager within the Design & Engineering function, you will be joining an innovative & dynamic team, supporting the realisation and growth of a new product category for Dyson. The Engineering Manager must lead their resources to deliver design & engineering solutions on time, to specification, to quality & cost. They collaborate with their peers and the cross functional team to arrive at solutions that integrate to achieve the product vison, and are expected to make valuable, & impactful proposals, & engineering decisions. They are also people leaders who are accountable for the capability of their team through knowledge growth & retention, and the professional development of their engineers.
As a Manager in the Design Engineering team, you will be accountable for; the robustness of your team’s design & engineering output. Collaborating with their peers regionally, & with their counterpart globally, to allow for efficient utilization of global resources. Instigating efficiencies, whilst continually and strategically improving ways of working through knowledge growth in mechanical platforms.
As a trusted Manager in RDD, the Engineering Manager will role model the Dyson values and create a high-performance culture. Responsibilities include:
Managing capability and resources in the team to meet project schedules. The manager must ensure that all the technical issues are well matched to the capability & development needs of the individuals within their team.
Assess technical capability of the design Engineering team, plan & deliver growth.
Collaborate with peers to implement the most suitable structure of the design engineering team to deliver the project.
Assess engineering risk & lead their team to integrated solutions through collaboration.
Apply theory, data & intuition to make sound design & engineering judgements & proposals.
A good Engineering/ Science/ Math Degree with expertise in working on motors/ acoustics/ fluid dynamics or structural and manufacturing analysis within a fast growing and robust environment.
Proven experience in leading and scaling teams in a sustainable manner.
Ability to apply cross-discipline technical knowledge to challenges/ problems Dyson is solving.
Experience of working with the ANSYS suite of analysis tools, NX and Siemens Team Center would be advantageous.
Ability to communicate complex technical issues in an appropriate, concise and accurate fashion, both in writing and verbally.
Ability to communicate at all levels in the department from indirect report to board level with confidence, accuracy and appropriate detail.
Highly driven individual who strives for accurate results in every aspect of your work.
The proven ability to work as part of a team or un-supervised to an agreed goal or set of deliverables is imperative.
A clear logical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
Persistent approach to problem solving and an inquisitive nature.
