About the role

The Floorcare team is at the root of Dyson’s growth as a global technology company.  Joining the most mature category at Dyson, you will benefit from being immersed in pioneering and proven ways of working as well as being surrounded by a wealth of technical experience from which you can learn from.

More recently, our Pick-up and Separation performance has been enhanced by developing and integrating laser and particle counting technologies alongside robot vision systems, the latest battery & digital motors, packaged to give the best user interaction.

As an Engineering Manager within the Floorcare Design and Engineering function, you will be a key part of our multi-disciplined team, defining and delivering the integration of future Floorcare products which cover Cordless stick vacs, Robots and an exciting pipeline of New technology areas.

You will:

  • Lead a team to deliver design and engineering solutions on time, to specification, to quality & cost.

  • Be responsible for; the design and engineering quality of your teams’ output, collaborating with your peers regionally and with your counterpart globally, to allow for efficient utilization of global resources.

  • Assess engineering risk, collaborate with and influence other cross functional disciplines to arrive at technology and integrated solutions to achieve the product vison. 

  • Apply theory, data and intuition to make sound design and engineering judgements and proposals. 

  • Be a people leader who is responsible for assessing and maintaining the technical capability and professional development of your team through knowledge growth and retention.  You will ensure all technical issues are well matched to the capability and development needs of the individuals.

  • Work with senior managers to implement the most suitable structure of the design engineering team to deliver the project. 

  • You will role model the Dyson values and create a high-performance culture.

About you

  • A good Engineering / Science Degree (or equivalent), or other relevant discipline and a demonstrable level of industrial experience in a relevant industry.

  • Ability to apply cross-discipline technical knowledge to challenges / problems Dyson is solving. 

  • Experience in managing an engaged team, taking responsibility for operational related tasks such as goal setting, coaching and performance evaluation.  Inspiring and delivering through others.

  • Excellent analytical and logical thinker with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Effective reporting on progress against team and project goals.  Presenting complex technical information and analysis to senior stakeholders

  • Effective communicator: appropriate, concise and accurate information, in both written and verbal formats to all levels.

  • Comfortable at multi-tasking and planning effectively when working with a variety of project teams.

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team or un-supervised to an agreed goal or set of deliverables. 

  • Possessing a growth mind-set, you are an engineer at heart, with a genuine interest in technology and people.
