Finance Controller (7-12yrs)

About the Role

The Market Controller will act as representative of DBS (Dyson business services) driving efficient and effective ways of working as well as a partner to the Finance Leader in the market and responsible for the accounting, reporting and oversight of the entity activities, financial statements, establishing strong governance and controls.

The key responsibilities include but not limited to:

Period End Closing/ Balance Sheet Integrity

  • Accountable for timely close for the entities assigned, ensuring compliance to the relevant accounting standards
  • Takes full accountability for the timely and accurate preparation of the balance sheet reconciliations and ensure availability and completeness of supporting documents
  • Conduct regular BS reviews highlighting actions needed and focus areas to maintain healthy Balance Sheet position (i.e. all KPIs are on target)

Cash flow related activities

  • Ensure accurate preparation of the Cashflow Forecast, conducts meeting with Market FDs and Treasury team to discuss details and provide risks & opportunities
  • Work with DBS OTC operation and local sales team to manage open deduction, open credit and overdues resolutions
  • Support STP team to manage aged open PO and GRIR items, proactively follow up with PO owner to close PO/GRIR on a timely manner, conduct training / refreshment on annual basis
  • Proactively provide recommendations to improve DSO and bring the customers/vendors to standard payment terms

Internal controls

  • Review and ensure proper controls are in place for all processes managed by DBS
  • Implement the global process and ensure compliance to internal controls are implemented and monitored
  • Champion internal controls and company policies adaptation, facilitate FCA in the markets
  • Be a Access Control GPO lead for the market

Statutory Requirements

  • Responsible for annual Statutory Accounts preparation and provide support for annual Tax submission within the timelines as shared by external auditors
  • Partner with the Finance lead in the market to deliver Group & External Audit Requirements such as Statutory Disclosures
  • Collaborate with Regional tax team to resolve the tax issues and provide the support for tax audits

Process/Systems/Continuous Improvement

  • Champion Group ways of working implementation, processes adaptation & KPIs improvement in OTC, STP and P2P areas
  • Embrace and lead process/system change, support an ad-hoc DBS projects as required
  • Participate in cross-divisional projects for new business initiatives
  • Drive continuous improvements in ways of working

People Management

  • Coach and train the team members to ensure team members have relevant and updated knowledge in the areas they are responsible for

Stakeholder Management

  • Partnering with Finance Director in the market, to discuss opportunities/issues and stay abreast of any new development that may impact DBS
  • Act as a single point of contact for market for issues related to DBS services
  • Work collaboratively with global functions and region to ensure governance and compliance is in place as well as SLAs

About you

  • University degree (Business / Finance / Economy / Management) with recognised accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, CA, CMA)
  • Solid knowledge of accounting, reporting and analysis, acquired through related work experience
  • Good knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Excel a must
  • Preferable experience in Blackline
  • Exhibit the customer centric mindset and the ability to manage tasks with competing priorities to meet the demands from customers
  • Highly motivated, deadline driven, result focused and ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong process & project management skills; lean six sigma qualification is a plus
  • Proactively highlights and progresses solutions for issues identified
  • 7-12 years’ experience in the area of accounting and finance with people management responsibilities
