The Group Finance team provides Dyson with overall financial planning, reporting & analysis capabilities, owns the systems that support these activities across the Dyson Group and provides finance business partnering to Group Functions like Global IT and Estates. The team acts as a business partner to Dyson’s executive leadership, enabling them to plan and take action to support Dyson’s Double Dyson 2025 strategic target.
About The Team
Category finance teams work as finance business partners for Category leadership. We support development and delivery of Dyson’s financial plans by providing financial decision support throughout the product lifecycle: design-development-launch-sale-end of life. This involves product focussed commercial financial planning and analysis, the management of business cases for Research, Design & Development (RDD) projects, and planning and control of Category RDD & Operations budgets.
We are an adaptable team that provides key financial insights to the wider business, reacting to the needs and requirements as they evolve. The team translates often complex commercial objectives and engineering challenges into a business case format, accounting for all relevant information. The magic begins when we communicate these often-complex models back to the relevant business stakeholders in an easily understandable language.
This role will cover financial planning and reporting of Floorcare performance and driving category performance by analysing product profitability data to influence future and in life ranges.
This role will report into the Head of Category Finance.
About The Role
As a Finance Manager in the Floorcare Category Finance team you will lead the analysis and reporting of the monthly performance reports to RDD Category Leaders and Commercial Category leaders to ensure strong financial rigour are applied to key decision making.
You will also be the key finance expert in the launch planning process to include range transitioning, group modelling and acting as bridge between group and markets.
Working with different functions across the business to obtain relevant insights required to excel in role, this is a highly visible role that represents a great opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of Dyson.

Drive category performance by analysing product profitability data to influence future and in life ranges.
Manage category performance and end to end profitability, business partner with commercial team to drive performance.
Build relationship with markets and commercial to assess category risks and opportunities
Provide category performance analysis and lead monthly review meetings with the Commercial team
Key support in preparation for monthly Exec category reviews.
Provide financial expertise & integrated finance support to deliver category 5 year plan objectives.
Lead on the launch planning process to include range transitioning, group modelling and acting as bridge between group and markets.
Drive for continual process improvement, be proactive and thought provoking in supporting decision making.
Share category knowledge, learning & insight back to markets
The role involves providing financial expertise and integrated financial support to the Floorcare Leadership team therefore relevant competencies arising from a diversity of finance experience across different finance function and/or business areas: e.g. Controlling, FP&A, Market Commercial, Operations, etc would be beneficial. Candidates are not expected to have direct experience of every area but to bring some external perspective to the role and show awareness of and interest in other areas.
The ideal candidate should have experience calculating financial evaluation metrics, e.g. Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and payback for new product ideas/projects. Demonstrated technical knowledge of these techniques is acceptable.
Minimum 7 years of experience in financial planning and reporting as well as business case analysis
Specific technical qualifications/exposure
A globally recognised professional accounting qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA etc.
Experience in rigorous financial planning, analysis and/or strategy experience
Excellent analytical ability and Excel spreadsheet skills
Good planning and organisation skills
Ability to understand concepts and ideas quickly and model data in meaningful ways
