The Technology System Department encompasses three key groups – Performance Test, Analysis, and Systems Engineering. This role resides within the Analysis group, which provides technical leadership in the fields of flow, thermal management, acoustic and vibration, structural dynamics and mechanics of materials.

This position has developed a higher level of knowledge & skill within own discipline, and is recognized as a valued team player. Working effectively in a team, this individual is expected to provide original assessment and options to technical challenges within a project. To be successful in this role, it is critical to be able to think and act independently while demonstrating the ability to escalate any issues.

About the role

  • Holds responsibility to deliver the best use of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics Technology to assigned projects.
  • May own performance specifications within projects and expected to ensure that the product performance satisfy the requirements. Deliverables include analytical study, experimental testing, as well as simulation (via CFD).
  • Manage related technical risk actively and provide mitigations as needed. Ensure timely closure of risk items.
  • Resolve FRACAS (Problem Report) through systematic technical analysis in timely manner.
  • Plan and manage progress of actions, both self and cross-team, in order to deliver on time.
  • Support departmental goals and long term technology road map.
  • Take ownership of personal career development by setting out immediate and long term plan together with line manager.
  • Proactively communicate progress to line manager via 1-1 reporting.
  • Proactively identify areas of improvement and to propose improvements actions.
  • Actively contributes to lessons learnt database to ensure sharing of past learnings.

About you

  • A Bachelor degree in aeronautical/mechanical engineering or equivalent, applicants with a Master degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in mechanical product design & development, preferably in the consumer electrical appliance industry. Candidates with no experience will be considered for entry-level position.
  • Both theoretical and applicative knowledge of Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and experimental testing.
  • Both theoretical and applicative knowledge of the principles and application of computational fluid dynamics. Competent user in ANSYS Fluent or relevant CFD software.
  • Experience in measurement devices and their accurate usage (e.g. Manometer, Venturi Meter, Bellmouth, Thermocouple, Thermal camera)
  • Experience in data acquisition/processing software and hardware (e.g. B&K Pulse, National Instruments modules, MATLAB, and Labview)
  • Ability to analyse and solve problem using systematic root-cause analysis approach.
  • Able to identify technical risks within projects. Expected to suggest specific actions to mitigate risks. Able to contribute in FMEA sessions.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to receive constructive feedback and coaching, and respond appropriately.
  • Able to communicate ideas and concepts clearly.
