Global Commodity Group Lead

About us

We are looking for an experienced Electronics procurement team leader to manage our team of Global Commodity Managers for semiconductors, discrete, passives, connectors and harnesses.
This role will work closely with senior level stakeholders and be a member of the Direct Materials Procurement leadership team. The successful candidate must have several years of experience in similar leadership roles and should be well connected within the Semiconductor industry.

As the global semiconductor supply chain is going through its most challenging time ever, you are expected to create strong relationship bonds with our key suppliers and secure long-term supply at optimal cost for Dyson.

About you

  • Lead a team with 8 team members dedicated to electronic components, sensor and display

  • Full commercial responsibility of electronic components across all Dyson product categories

  • Responsible to work with commodity managers to build up commodity strategies based on product category requirements and needs

  • Lead the electronics supplier strategy and actively manage supplier relationships at senior management level

  • Accountable for the negotiations of all contracts within the electronic components space

  • Oversee and steer the cost analyses (cost regression analysis, should cost, benchmarking) of the electronic components team

  • Identify, manage and mitigate Dyson’s risks within the electronic component’s commodities

  • Dual source activities- Work closely with commodity managers and engineering team (RDD) to implement alternative components/solutions

  • Components risks buy management – Support commercial negotiations of risk buy

  • Work with commodity engineering procurement to manage the BOM scrubbing process – identify longevity of those components and components selections from Approved vendor list (AVL)

  • Support RDD/engineering team on evaluation or validations build

  • Follow the efficient qualification plan of alternative and new components with RDD

  • Ensure coordination and support with PCBA Commodity Team during new project development (CTB) and the product lifecycle with engineering change (ECR)

  • Demand change management - Work with supply chain and Supply Assurance and Flexibility team (SAF) on expediting of critical parts and material allocations with priority justifications

  • Support operations and supply chain to manage materials exposure in contract manufacturers to reduce liability. Work with suppliers on cancellation & rescheduling on materials to reduce exposure

  • Be aware of PCNs and step in to actively manage the changeover if needed

About you

  • Bachelor in economics or electrical engineering

  • MBA is a desired

  • Experienced in leading electronics procurement teams

  • Experienced in management of electronic components

  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of the Electronics component value chain

  • Excellent negotiation skills in monopolistic and competitive settings

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building

  • Cross-functional leadership and strong communication skills

  • Ability and drive to work independently

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI or other data analytics tools
