About the role
Reporting to the Global Commodity Lead, the role will be responsible for a key portfolio of Direct Software Procurement projects - with a focus on Software licensing solutions, using best practice to ensure delivery of cost optimised solutions, in line with business needs.
You will also become the Dyson Global Commodity Expert for Direct / Product Software Procurement, influencing our project teams in the product software solution and supplier direction.
Demonstrated experience in procurement and negation for accessing “digital” products, assets and IP.
Specific experience in procurement of several of the following: Hosting Solutions, SAAS, Mapping & Location Based Services, Webservices, Embedded Libraries, Codecs, Algorithms, Platforms, Application Plugins, Development Toolchains, etc.
Experience with and understanding of Open Source Licenses such as GPL, LPGL, Apache, MIT, etc.
Understand how to manage bespoke projects in terms of IP, delivery planning and quality.
Develope and deliver cutting edge procurement, strategic sourcing and category management solutions, operating as an internal business partner to cross functional stakeholders.
Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). Ensuring SRM development plans for all the suppliers are implemented and adhered to. Forges excellent relationships with the most senior personnel at the suppliers.
Manage and drive the behaviours of their Commodity, ensuring organisation, utilising and leading both internal and external resources to ensure the commodity and project objectives are achieved. E.g. Procurement engineers on “early supplier involvement”, New Product Introduction and Engineering teams on transferred development projects providing expertise and support to meet project milestones.
Align with the Global Software team for the specific requirements
Responsible for “End to End” performance of the Software Commodity.
Degree level qualification or above.
Substantial experience in Software sourcing.
Proficient negotiator with proven abilities in influencing people at all levels in the organisation.
Good knowledge of legal regulations and contract setting
Self-motivated, accurate and operates with the highest ethical standards.
Demonstrate understanding of technical, commercial methods and processes relevant to the Commodity.
Proven track record of proactive leadership and of global Software projects.
Procurement experience gained in a complex, global, 'blue-chip' environment
Comfortable operating in an autonomous Procurement environment and be willing to lead and manage end to end Software licensing solutions, with ownership of the digital BOM.
CIPS (or equivalent) purchasing qualification
Second language, (preferably Mandarin).
Automotive / Aerospace / Defence / FMCG / Consumer Electronics / Tech background
