Dyson has a global property portfolio exceeding 4million square feet, with varying space typologies including manufacturing, research and development as well as offices.  As we grow and improve our portfolio, it is the role of the Global Estates team to ensure that recognised standards, best practice, compliance and quality are maintained as well as ensuring our spaces are fit for purpose in meeting the business needs.  Validating design and performance whilst driving efficiencies globally.

About The Role

This role is responsible for leading both internal and external teams of engineers and specialists to oversee the technical delivery of global estates projects and be accountable for the design development, construction, testing and commissioning and operational performance of our facilities. This role will work alongside programme and cost managers, architects and interior designers, facility managers and portfolio planners. Managing multiple and senior stakeholders as well as multiple internal functions is also critical to the role.

The Estates Engineering team are the custodians of our standards and quality documents.  This role requires an infrastructure strategist, technical author, team leader, people manager and a subject matter expert.  Predominantly specialising in the technical delivery of multidisciplinary building services engineering, but also a portfolio operations expert.  Efficiently delivering world class facilities in a more sustainable way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Lead for the multi-million dollar capital expenditure programme of all of our fixed assets globally.

  • Responsible for the development and collation of internationally recognised standards to aid the efficient delivery of all projects

  • Global estates team representative with respect to all building related technical matters.

  • Responsible and accountable for technical services delivery by guiding and managing design teams (internal and external) for the detailed design, acceptance and validation of all capital projects.

  • Operational Liaison for building performance and energy management for the global portfolio collaborating with the delivery teams.

  • Commercial Liaison advising towards the operational and capital budget for the global estates team.

  • Liaising with key stakeholders and senior managers to advise on key strategic deliverables. Interrogating the feasibility and value of individual requests as part of the wider global estate.

  • Subject matter expert responsible for the implementation of the property portfolio sustainability agenda.  Realising infrastructure improvements and refurbishments in-line with public commitments of the business and sustainability targets.

About You

  • Qualified building services engineer with minimum 15 years of regional experience is a critical requirement.

  • Excellent communication skills, must be able to communicate and present clearly and efficiently.

  • Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and demonstrate commitment and passion.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently

  • Agility, flexibility and versatility is key with an open work attitude and approach.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally.

  • Able to cope with conflicting demands and prioritise duties.

  • Project Management – Project Planning, Consultant Liaison, Scope Definition and Technical Due Diligence.

  • Building Engineering and Operations – Technical Competence, Operational Optimisation, Budget Planning.

  • Team Management – Organisation, Planning, Mentoring, Performance, Professional Accreditation, Morale.

  • Contract Management – Supply Chain Performance, Contract Law, Quality and Compliance.

  • Cost Management – Strategic Planning, Cash Flow, P&L, Value Engineering, Procurement.

  • Subject Matter Expert – Qualified, Experienced, Authority, Client Representative.
