Global Head of Visual Merchandising

Dyson have an ambitious expansion plan to evolve to a model where 80% of sales are through direct & controlled channels by 2020. This role will be based in the Group Retail Team, working for the Vice President for Global Retail & Events, and closely with the Retail Experience Director and various key stakeholders in the markets. The role will rely on the ability to develop outstanding relationships with others, act as a business partner for the major stakeholders and ensure that Dyson retail (third party and direct) delivers an exceptional brand and shopper experience.
This role is far reaching and will rely on the ability to helicopter above the detail, driving the success of our direct and controlled environments, while diving into operational detail when necessary. The main objective of the role is to lead and manage visual compliance around the world, ensuring that no matter where the experience is, that it represents Dyson’s brand standards. You will own the development of the visual guidelines for global execution and ensure adherence by working closely with the retail marketing and visual merchandising teams in market.
The Global Head of Visual Merchandising will work across multiple categories to ensure the product presentation and VM guidelines are aligned. Working closely with the following teams in group retail; Retail Marketing, Concept Design, Training and Centres of Excellence and the local markets teams globally. 
The Global Head of Visual Merchandising role is crucial to ensuring the shopper experience and product presentation within our retail portfolio is delivered to the highest standards and is executed consistently on a global level. You will own the direction of our product presentation and most importantly providing the tools to our markets to execute and maintain these standards. It is crucial that you work closely with your key market contacts and counter parts to implement the VM strategy and desired standards.


  • Take creative lead on product presentation principles and VM strategy
  • Product knowledge: Have full working knowledge of the current and future product range
  • Implement review and governance processes that line up with Engineering, Milestone and Creative processes
  • Provide globally relevant VM guidelines for each system (third party and direct)
  • Take learnings from local market activity to continually innovate at pace
  • Highlighting and manage risks to key stakeholders including Retail Experience Director and COE team
  • Solutions focused to ensure we meet business objectives, allowing for local nuances
  • Ensure communication between the team is constant
  • Ensure the team is carrying out best practice and creating a toolkit for future executions
  • Maintain a consistent standard across global markets, but providing quarterly up-dates on VM to share best practise and hero market compliance


  • Experience of driving market teams to deliver, defined and agreed objectives and schedules
  • Expertise is leading and owning Visual Merchandising strategies and principles
  • Understanding of brand anatomy and the part that visual identity and branded communications play within it
  • Experience of working with a ‘big idea’ then creatively managing it through to execution
  • Ability to create and provide clear direction to various levels and functions across the business
  • Strong shopper analysis and research experience
  • Proven experience of presenting work and influencing decision makers at the highest levels
  • Ability to handle multiple projects whilst still delivering on schedule and to budget
  • Experience of working with suppliers; in quoting, negotiating, and driving to deliver on time
  • Proven experience Adobe packages
