About the role

The Global Health and Safety Team’s purpose is to contribute to Dyson’s future growth by maintaining a 5 Star experience for our Employees, Shoppers, Owner’s and Business Partners. This includes the prevention of foreseeable harm, optimal people performance and well-being, reducing our impact on our Environment and the avoidance of significant business disruption or other operational loss.

In addition to role holder contributing to and implementing the Global Health and Safety strategy and supporting any reactive tasking as required, the three main aspects of this role are:

Assurance & Reporting

Working in partnership with the Global Director of Health and Safety and the Global Safety Leadership team support and continually improve a best in class Health and Safety assurance and reporting programe for Dyson.

Systems

Be the lead for the operation, maintenance and continual improvement of our Global Safety Management Systems, which include but not limited to the following:

  • AVA (ecoonline).
  • Enhesa.
  • Internal Learning Management System.
  • H&S Motor Site.

RDD (CoE)

To be the go to person for all GHST / functional escalations relating to Research, Design and Development (RDD) and be a Centre of Excellence (CoE) to ensure competent technical oversight, the management of third party experts, consistency and continual improvement.    

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Partnering with RDD on any new initatives and working to improve health and safety standards across the function.
  • Monitoring Enhesa compliance globally and checking that actions have been closed out by the responsible people.
  • Contribute to and implement the Global Health and Safety Internal assurance program. This will include tracking that RDD are completing the Lab safety and security audits within RDD and providing support.
  • Deliver and implement a comprehensive Health and Safety Gap Analysis and improvement plan (With a particular focus on ensuring a robust Health and Safety Risk Management process is in place).
  • Contribute, manage and maintain (but not limited to): the Ava Global Health and Safety Management System, the ENHESA legislation tool, Dyson Learning and Global Health and Safety Sharepoint (Motor) site.
  • Partner with the Global Head of Fire Safety to ensure a robust approach to fire life safety is adopted throughout all locations.
  • Continually review the occupational health strategy / screening and workplace exposure monitoring requirements on a risk-based approach.
  • Liaise with Human Resources advisors on Occupational Health issues and advise on referrals. 
  • Develop and deliver innovative and engaging general Health and Safety/ RDD technical training.
  • Support the development and implementation with the following parts of the global management system:
  • Leading and lagging measurements on Health and Safety performance, providing insight from data and measuring performance against industry indices and best practice. Provide internal and external reporting as required.
  • Health and Safety business cases, papers and technical analysis in support of governance requirements.
  • Internal and external gap analysis and targeted proactive monitoring in the pursuance of attaining and maintaining Health and Safety legal compliance / best practice.

Experience:

  • 5 years (min) experience preferably within a research and development or similar environment.
  • Understanding of H&S (and Environmental Compliance) legal frameworks and have the ability and resourcefulness to determine the practical application of the requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with enforcement officers.
  • Languages: - English (essential).
