Driving enabling platforms and services to ensure the broader service and product teams can deliver exceptional results and achieve the unimaginable.The team leads bringing technology insights and innovation into our strategy and roadmaps, through Centres of Excellence focussed on core enabling platforms and strategic missions focussed on accelerate delivery and delivering efficiency. 
As Mission control for Dyson IT, the team will lead on the optimisation of resource across people, finances and architectural principles to ensure the Dyson IT teams are focused on the right things at the right time and in the right way. 

About the role

The Director - IT Strategy, Platforms & Enablement is a critical role in delivering Dyson’s future strategic ambitions driving transformation through technology, as a key Member of the Global IT Senior leadership and reporting into the Global CIO.  
Overall responsible for Dyson’s IT strategic planning, enterprise architecture and portfolio and global service integration management, with accountability for ensuring alignment of the IT strategic roadmaps with broader business corporate strategic plans.   
Taking ultimate ownership for Mission control for Dyson IT, the candidate will be responsible for providing an integrated and single view of work across Global IT – ensuring we are focussed on the right things, at the right time in the right way.  This includes providing overall leadership for our Service Integration and Management, Portfolio and PMO office across Global IT. The role is accountable for ensuring any new capabilities delivered by the Global IT function or broader embedded technology teams, including for example our Connected Product Software teams, are fully aligned with Dyson’s Enterprise Architecture principles and integrated effectively.  Chairing Dyson’s Architectural Review Board responsible for critical Enterprise Architecture decisions.
The successful candidate will be accountable for Dyson’s core technology platforms, infrastructure and emerging technologies. Delivering platforms that effectively enable business aligned IT service and product teams to deliver at pace whilst maintaining security, reliability and efficiency platforms. This includes technologies critical to our strategic goals and shared across global IT service delivery teams include Cloud, Integration, RPA/Automation and Network.  Adopting a Centre of Enablement approach, the Director will work closely with broader Global IT leadership team to ensure these core platforms are future fit and standards clearly defined and governed against.
Lead and stimulate discussion on the application of innovative trends and disruptive technology for colleagues across IT and the wider business, this role has overall responsibility for researching and identifying emerging technologies that are relevant to Dyson’s strategic plans. Incubating teams to deliver innovative solutions leveraging these technologies.  This includes managing an innovation pipeline including appropriate proof of concepts / proof of value trials with business functions, embedding an innovation culture in Global IT and establishing an effective partner eco-system and network to deliver.  
This is a strategic leadership role in a fast-moving business operating at the cutting edge of Information Technology. Working as a trusted partner with the most senior business leaders across Dyson to understand and influence the strategic plans and objectives and ensure the IT strategy is completely aligned to deliver.

About you

The role requires extensive technology strategy and enterprise architecture leadership experience at a senior level and on a global scale. A visionary with a proven track record in delivering innovation into an organisation.
The candidate should be comfortable undertaking the role as the ‘go to’ technology strategist for senior leadership in an organisation, leading teams responsible for Innovation and technology research, whilst also being comfortable discussing business strategy and delivering through cross functional teams.
But it’s not all about strategy, the successful candidate will also need a broad technology delivery background across Applications and Infrastructure, supporting 24/7 operations. Candidates need to enjoy getting into the detail and supporting operations and incident resolution as much as they do working on long term strategic plans and innovation.   
Having experience leading platform and infrastructure teams as part of Scaled Agile delivery is critical, ideally having implemented these new ways of working into former organisation previously and understanding what works and doesn’t work in practice vs. the theory.  
Highly collaborative and excellent communication skills are a must – able to engage stakeholders at all levels across the business in simple to understand and practical terms. Having credibility with technical teams and business stakeholders equally. Complex, overly conceptual or ‘consultancy’ terminology to be avoided.  
We have big ambitions for Dyson and Global IT and leading teams to deliver the unthinkable is core to the role. The Global IT function continues to need to transform and evolve to deliver our ambitious plans, the successful candidate will need to lead their teams through this effectively.  Previous experience of leading operating model transformation successfully will be critical.Our culture at Dyson is not for everyone, to be successful in the role successful candidates will need to have the following core attributes:
