About The Role

The Global Retail Development team is responsible for the delivery and management of Dyson Retail, including new doors and the updating of the existing estate. With the increased focus on physical retail and significant growth in the number of doors imminent, the role of this team is evolving.  We are looking for a seasoned architectural (technical) delivery manager to improve our processes, embed these new ways of working and support the team and its stakeholders to deliver and manage the global retail estate.

This role reports into the Senior Global Retail Implementation Manager and supports all regions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead in-house architecture technical development and documentation for all Dyson stores (various formats – including flagships, boutiques, kiosks and shop-in-shops)

  • Lead store layout review and design development processes for both new and existing locations

  • Own and manage timelines for all necessary architectural reviews, in line with store delivery programme deadlines.

  • Own and manage database for continual updates to fit out manual, as related to construction methods, materials specifications, as well as stakeholder & vendor lists.

  • Provide construction expertise for in-store retrofit programmes, supporting new launches or categories.

  • Provide a variety of levels of technical support to individual projects, in addition to services to support the design continuity of Demo Stores, including reviews of Local Architects and Designers’ drawing pack development.

About You

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Ability to own, draft & layout retail plans and produce/review test-fits for potential locations as part of location feasibility process

  • Highly proficient in AutoCad, able to produce/ develop /interpret a set of drawings and drawing details from concept design through to Construction Drawing stage

  • Monitor, coordinate and supervise submission status of materials and shop drawing approvals.

  • Expert capability in understanding all Construction Drawing requirements & relevant processes to develop concepts from design to life; ability to redline Shop drawings, Local Architect or General Contractor drawings where necessary.

  • Act as the gatekeeper to Dyson’s Demo Store standards and quality of design to maintain consistency in architectural detailing (such as corner details, material junctions, etc.)

  • Own and update the Dyson Global Fitout Manual and to ensure the store specification is current and reflective of approved material and build specifications, processes, and current Dyson products.

  • Maintain and update schedule of approved material samples & research of new materials and alternatives.

  • Working knowledge of MEP and HVAC systems in both shopping mall and standalone retail environments

  • Work closely with retail design, construction, health & safety, related internal functions to ensure all requirements are captured.

  • Work with external vendors including General Contractors, consultants, lighting/IT/AV/Security vendors to ensure that all necessary documentation is reflected on drawings and all on site updates are correctly documented and resolved.

  • Provide a schedule of drawing services and responsibility matrix between Dyson team and appointed vendors. Convene and conduct coordination meetings to manage associated deliverables with relevant stakeholders and maintain global schedule for review/approval status of individual projects.

  • Provide pre-project familiarisation to new Markets and new vendors including review of samples to confirm understanding of brand requirements.

  • Proven ability to trouble-shoot or provide resolutions for design challenges during site construction.

  • Proven record of providing on-site expertise or support to review quality of execution and progress or snagging as needed.

  • Review and comment on all Operation & Maintenance manual and “As-built” documentation as needed.

  • Support to produce a “Bill of Quantities” as needed for individual projects.


  • Proven expertise in working for global retail brands, architectural technologist services or in a similar capacity.

  • Min 8-10 years of relevant working experience

  • Meticulous attention to detail, reliable and responsible

  • Self-starter, good with time management & ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

  • Well versed in CAD / Adobe / Microsoft suite software

  • Team player, collaborative, with the ability to manage or improve ways of working between various stakeholders.

  • Experience in working cross-culturally across various regions.

  • Passion for retail & design
