About the role

As a Graduate Design Engineer, you’ll be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, applying your university knowledge from the get-go. Working as part of a larger project team in the Design & Engineering function,  you will be joining an innovative & dynamic team, supporting the realisation and growth of a new product category for Dyson.

You will work autonomously as part of a multi-disciplined team, Iteratively, designing, building & testing to create robust specifications & designs on time, & to cost & quality. You will be collaborating as part of a global team, working with our engineering teams in the UK & Malaysia to realise design detail & manufacturing solutions, plus engaging with our category teams to define design requirements, & our support teams to analyse design solutions.

You will role model the Dyson values and help create a high-performance culture. Responsibilities include:

  • Ownership of design build and testing of prototypes to demonstrate technologies, features, and performance.

  • Assessing technical risk, defining development plans, and reporting against project delivery.

  • Create and perform investigative verification and validation tests throughout all development phases.

  • Working alongside RDD teams to produce exciting and disruptive products on specification, cost, and time.

Working with engineers and scientists/technical experts across a broad range of disciplines, you’ll be comfortable learning from others, but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions. We’ll support you with a development framework designed to help you make the most of your career.

About you

Delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is tough, so you’ll need to be:

  • On track for 2nd upper-class honours or above and be studying in Mechanical, Aerospace, Design Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline

  • Graduating in August/September 2022

  • Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your internship, university projects or as part of your co-curricular activities

  • Happy to build your own networks to learn from the technical expertise around you

  • Knowledge and application of a systems engineering approach to design.

  • A sound understanding of mechanical principles and engineering judgement to make robust design decisions.

  • Effective assessment and selection of appropriate methods to develop and demonstrate design intent.

  • Show suitable verification and validation to prove your design.

  • Ability to analyse and evaluate test results to drive design direction.

  • Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our future plans
