Our Energy Storage Development (ESD) team are responsible for new battery technology that will deliver significantly better performance than conventional battery cells.

About the role

To support the manufacturing of the Dyson Designed Cell, a group of multi-faceted engineers are collaborating to create a platform to support the digital twins and systems required to achieve this.

As a graduate, you will report to a Principal Engineer to help design models of various entities, using the appropriate software as needed. As a start, there will be more emphasis on Unity and Matlab, as well as hands-on opportunities in laboratories. You will be expected to work cross-functionally with engineers from different disciplines, in order to create such models.

This means that you will have endless opportunities to develop skills in a multitude of software and have a front row seat for the product life cycle of a digital twin as well as the Dyson Designed Cell.

About you

Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. On top of the technical know-how and passion to learn more, you’ll need to be inquisitive by nature, enthusiastic about technology, creative and tenacious in your approach to problem solving. You will be comfortable picking up new tools and skills as you strive to create something new.

You’ll also need to be:

  • On track for 2nd upper class honours or above and be studying towards a Computing, Computer Science,  Engineering or related degree.

  • Graduating in August/September 2022

  • Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your university projects or as part of your co-curricular activities

  • Self-learner and happy to build your own networks to learn from the technical expertise around you.

  • Strong organisational skills with a methodical and detailed approach.

  • A quick learner and an effective communicator – to be able to thrive in Dyson’s fast-paced environment

  • Desirable:

    • Experience in coding using C#, Matlab or Python.

    • Experience in Unity and machine learning will be advantageous.

    • Appreciation of relevant Battery technology or battery products across the industry and willingness to understand how things work in the physical world.
