Our Energy Storage Development (ESD) team are responsible for new battery technology that will deliver significantly better performance than conventional battery cells.
About the role
To support the manufacturing of the Dyson Designed Cell, a group of multi-faceted engineers are collaborating to create a platform to support the digital twins and systems required to achieve this.
As a graduate, you will report to a Principal Engineer to create the 3D world of the smart factory digital twin, using any appropriate technology platform as needed. You will focus on creating the right HMI for the platform, enabling fast ingestion of information by end users. Part of this can include gamification and AR/XR at a later stage. For longer term career development, there will be opportunities to delve into modelling software such as Matlab, or other fields like data science.
You will be expected to work cross-functionally with engineers from different disciplines, taking initiatives to learn from the expertise around you in order for you to deliver your work.
This means that you will have endless opportunities to develop skills in a multitude of software and have a front row seat for the product life cycle of a digital twin as well as the Dyson Designed Cell.

About you
Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. On top of the technical know-how and passion to learn more, you’ll need to be inquisitive by nature, enthusiastic about technology, creative and tenacious in your approach to problem solving. You will be comfortable picking up new tools and skills as you strive to create something new.
You’ll also need to be:
Working towards or have achieved a Computing, Computer Science or relevant engineering discipline degree.
Graduating by August 2023
Experience in developing game engines, creating games, or utilizing 3D visualization software.
Experience in programming using Python, C++, C#.
Interested in Machine Learning, DevOps, Data Architecture, System Design.
Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your university projects or as part of your co-curricular activities.
Appreciation of relevant Battery technology or battery products across the industry and willingness to understand how things work in the physical world.
Self-learner and happy to build your own networks to learn from the technical expertise around you.
Strong organizational skills with a methodical and detailed approach.
An effective communicator and a team player – to be able to thrive in Dyson’s fast-paced environment.
Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious plans.
To be eligible you will need to have no more than two years of relevant work experience post-graduation (Phd students are not eligible for our graduate programmes).
