About us

Dyson is a global technology enterprise.  We solve the problems others choose to ignore, with surprising new inventions that defy convention and simply work better.  We’re driven by progress and thrive on the challenge of relentless improvement.  We’re growing fast and our ambition is huge – more categories, more locations and more people.

Our scale and rapid growth make Dyson rich in new opportunities. We value new ideas and diverse perspectives, so our people are trusted with real work and responsibility from the outset.  You’ll develop fast and have the chance to move into different business areas and regions.  And you’ll be part of a global network of like-minded people – a community that supports and learns from each other.

The Technology Development Department encompasses 3 key groups – Technology Systems, Product Performance & Acoustics and Simulation. This role sits within the Technology Systems group mainly working on fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and sensing technologies. Our Technology Systems Team is more than just a group of engineers - we are trailblazers in delivering cutting-edge technical systems (fluids, thermals, sensing technologies, etc) for Hair care and other new category products. Based in Singapore and the Philippines, our team is at the forefront of innovation, constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible in product development.

Our engineers take full ownership of delivering projects from early stages of a product until start of production levels of maturity, providing them with unparalleled exposure to the product life cycle. With access to a state-of-the-art lab, simulations, and analytical tools, they are able to harness their creativity and technical expertise to bring world-class products to market.

About the role

As a Graduate Technology Systems Engineer, you will be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, applying your university knowledge from the get go. Working together with a larger project team in Technology Development Department, you will have your own set of project deliverables and the chance to take ownership of how these are achieved. Some of your tasks could include:

1) Collaborating with a project team to deliver optimal flow and thermal performance for new Dyson products, aligning with the product vision using simulations, experiments, and analytical tools.

  • Employing experiments, simulations, and analytical tools to drive designs forward, and ensuring accurate decision-making at every stage of the design process through experimental validation and other relevant analysis methods.

  • Delivering precise and concise analysis results consistently, whether derived from computational simulation, experimental testing, or statistical analysis.

  • Adhering to Dyson processes during project execution, such as the Dyson design cycle, milestone process, Product Life Management (including Specification, FMEA, Problem Reports), and key performance metrics.

  • Facilitating proper project handover from UK to SEA and from RDD to Operations.

  • Maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.

2) Proactively assess and mitigate risks, while solving any issues that could impact product performance or customer satisfaction:

  • Identify, characterize, and highlight risk/issues in a clear and concise manner.

  • Conduct systematic and thorough analysis to identify potential mitigations for any issues and present your findings to the cross-functional team, driving towards timely and effective solutions.

3) Take ownership of your career development and strive for progression into a Subject Matter Expert role

4) Embrace a mindset of continuous improvement, challenging the status quo and supporting initiatives that drive business excellence

  • Fresh graduate with excellent academic results and demonstrated work relevant through projects, internships or as part of your extra-curricular activities.

  • Have a strong interest in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics and taken modules related to it.

  • Hands on experience of building and working on components/parts/systems is a bonus.

  • Experience in running Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.

  • Capable of thinking ‘out of the box’ and approaching problems from different angles to develop effective solutions.

  • Motivated and committed to your personal and professional growth, willing to invest time in continuous learning and development.

  • To be eligible you will need to have no more than two years of relevant work experience post-graduation (PhD students are not eligible for our graduate programmes).
