About us

Based in Dyson’s RDD facility you will be joining the Motor Drives and Advanced Control (MDAC) team within the Dyson Global Electronics organisation. The Motor Drives and Advanced Control (MDAC) team form part of the wider Motors and Power Systems Group which focuses on researching and developing cutting-edge Dyson Digital Motors (DDM), drives and control systems for integration into existing and future Dyson products. As part of the MDAC Test and Verification team, you will support the design and development of DDMs by facilitating the characterisation, test and analysis of motors, power electronic drives and control systems, ensuring our final products are robust to real world conditions and outperform our competition.

About the role

Join us as a graduate and from day one you’ll be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, with the chance to have a meaningful impact on the evolution of Dyson technology. You’ll be working as part of a larger project team and have your own set of project deliverables and the chance to take ownership of how these are achieved. 

Some of your tasks could include: 

  • Creating bespoke test automation applications 

  • Conceptualising, designing, and building test rigs, fixtures or Systems 

  • Developing and executing test methods 

  • Testing and assessing the reliability and robustness of our designs 

Working alongside engineers, scientists, and technical experts across a broad range of disciplines, you’ll be comfortable learning from others but also sharing your own knowledge, ideas and opinions. In fact, we encourage this. 

For the duration of your programme, you will have regular performance conversations as well as opportunities for development to enable you to build your reputation within the team. 


About you 
Working at the forefront of technology is tough so standards and expectations are high. You’ll be contributing to live projects from the start so you’ll need to be curious, hungry to learn and ready to get stuck in. But it’s not just about technical expertise. You’ll need to be:

  • Studying an engineering discipline such as Electronics, Mechanical, Software or Mechatronic Engineering. Other degree disciplines can be considered. 

  • Able to evidence how you have applied your technical knowledge to solve problems, either through your university projects or as part of your extra-curricular activities. 

  • Hands-on and show practical skills to build/set up test equipment and run investigative tests, collect data, and analyse the results. 

  • Happy to build your own networks to learn from the technical expertise around you. 

  • Creative in your approach to problem solving to ensure our machines are better.

  • Passionate about Dyson and our technology to help us meet our ambitious future plans.
