Graduates, Interns and Apprentices
Malaysia - Advanced Manufacturing

About us

Dyson offers a unique opportunity for talented individuals to invent, design and develop market leading products for the global market. By working in our world class Research Design and Development department, these individuals can work alongside leading technical specialists and highly motivated creative people, to create products which fulfil our ambition of being truly different.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Aerodynamics / CFD / Thermal Engineer to work within our Simulation & Analysis Team, to apply their skills and experience in Fluid Dynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to deliver our next generation of Dyson technology. The candidate will also use analytical techniques to add insight into experimental results, driving early development concepts, supporting projects with appropriate technology readiness and advancement. In addition, the candidate will be expected to continually improve and develop Fluid Dynamics techniques and methodologies, in order to build the capability of the team and Dyson as a whole.

As a Graduate Engineer, you’ll be expected to hit the ground running on one of Dyson’s many live projects, applying your university knowledge from the get-go. Working as part of a larger project team in Technology Development, you’ll have your own set of project deliverables and the chance to take ownership of how these are achieved. Some of your tasks could include:

  • Generate innovative concepts for new technologies using analytical techniques including CFD and experiments.

  • Responsible for all activities related to thermal management and performance through design, development and delivery.

  • Responsible to develop air paths and cooling options for mechanical, electrical and electronic components of the system to achieve robustness and high performance.

  • Responsible for supporting implementation of design concepts from component design through to finished assembly. This would include analysis, product concepts, dimensional verification, and general demonstration of the use of core engineering disciplines.

  • Responsible for leading the development of design concepts through prototype hardware procurement, assembly, testing, data analysis, fault analysis, problem solving, and design refinement.

  • Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

  • Deliver product focused technology projects to the Dyson range plan.

About you

Our graduate roles are competitive and delivering the next generation of Dyson technology is challenging but rewarding, so you’ll need to:

  • Be on track in getting or have achieved a 2nd upper class honours and studying towards Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or related specializations

  • have the ability to perform thermodynamic heat transfer calculations and proficient in the theory of thermodynamics, aerodynamics and fluid dynamics

  • Have a high degree of expertise in 1D and 3D thermo-fluids analysis

  • possess a good understanding of the principles and application of CFD, with previous experience in ANSYS CFD and Star CCM+ tools

  • possess a good understanding of experimental techniques, particularly about pressure, temperature and flow measurement

  • Be passionate about solving challenging engineering problems

  • Be team player that can work well in a matrix structure

  • Be able to communicate and collaborate effectively

  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to view and solve technical challenges in a systematic and structured manner

Above all, you’ll want to play a key part in bringing the next generation of Dyson technology to the world.

For your application to be considered, please upload 1) your detailed resume and 2) your latest academic transcript (all semesters inclusive) in a single file together with your online application.

Please note that you should only apply to one graduate position as multiple applications will delay the selection process. We will consider you for other graduate roles should you have the relevant skillset or experience.

Professional growth, leadership development and new opportunities abound, driven by regular reviews and dynamic workshops. And with a vibrant culture, the latest devices, and a relaxed dress code reflecting our engineering spirit, it’s an exciting team environment geared to fuelling and realising ambition.
