Description

Over the last 4 years, we’ve established our own retail proposition, opening 80 Dyson Demo stores around the world (across 14 different markets). Our ambition is to continue to grow our own retail presence, taking the number of stores up to around  300 within the next three years. That’s really just the start and our plans will continue to grow and evolve in line with the plans for Dyson’s long term vision. 

The Store Development team is responsible for the delivery of the pipeline of Dyson Direct Stores, taking the process from site identification to handover into market and operations teams. With the increased focus on direct retail and significant growth in the number of direct stores imminent, the role of this team is changing.  We are looking for a seasoned programme manager and team leader to embed these new ways of working and lead the team and its supply chain to deliver the global retail direct store pipeline.


Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage Store Development Programme Team to deliver up to 100 stores a year
  • Oversee all new store development globally from site identification to handover of the completed store into market / operations
  • Optimise performance and consistency of programme delivery 
  • Capture best practice and innovation to ensure the Store Development Programme Team continuously improves and can accommodate the business’ growth and strategic intiatives
  • Share knowledge and experience of programme management across the Dyson programme management communities to introduce shared ways of working and optimise programme management across the business
  • Champion the Portfolio Management Office within the regional markets, Retail and Dyson’s supply chain
  • Drive commercial value and performance through applying structured contract and supplier relationship management to Dyson’s Direct Retail supply chain 
  • Upskill external suppliers to adopt Dyson culture and ways of working 
  • Escalation point for strategic or significant decisions / requests  
  • Track global spend against CAPEX budget and act as main point of contact for Group Finance in relation to financial reporting
  • Identify and troubleshoot programme level issues by exception and work with stakeholders to identify, understand and implement robust resolutions that work for the business
  • Ensure the right people are doing the right things at the right time for the regional programmes to be delivered

Skills

  • Experience of heading up and rolling out global retail store opening programmes – (must be able to demonstrate at regional level, as minimum)
  • Experience of leading global teams with a minimum of 5 DR’s
  • Previous track record of leading multiple global programmes of work at group level (e.g. HQ)
  • Previous experience of embedding change and establishing new robust retail roll out & production process in order to scale retal operations
  • Lead and own business comms between markets and group   
  • Demonstrable experience of leading a team and embedding change to culture and ways of working
  • Able to take a strategic view as well as understand and translate the detail in business language
  • Strong communicator and outstanding stakeholder engagement style, capable of senior stakeholder management and influence
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice contract and supplier relationship management approaches and methodologies and procurement processes
  • Comfortable using an exceptions based approach
  • Natural problem solver and decision maker, using experience to identify innovative solutions
  • Proven track record in project delivery
  • Can effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty
