Head of Group Business Continuity

About the role:

Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit and Risk, this role will lead the Group’s formal approach to business continuity and be the Group’s senior subject matter expert to ensure business continuity is appropriately considered in day-to-day business operations.  The role requires significant experience within a Business Continuity function, developing / owning the delivery of organisation-wide business continuity programmes, ideally within a large international business.  The individual should also have had exposure to and experience of working with both risk and crisis management.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the Group’s Business Continuity strategy
  • Creation and delivery of the Programme of work to deliver the strategy, aligned to ISO 22301, including:
    • Training, guidance and documentation
    • Delivery of workshops to identify business critical processes / systems; facilitate Business Impact Analysis; and creation of draft Business Continuity Plans (BCPs)
    • Testing and refining BCPs
  • Initiatives to enhance Dyson’s resilience in day-to-day business operations, working with other functions (e.g. Legal and Procurement) to embed business continuity arrangements
  • Communication with key stakeholders, including members of the Executive Council, on the importance of effective Business Continuity management and updates on the status of the  Business Continuity Programme
  • Administration of Dyson’s Global Business Continuity Policy and online tool (Clearview)
  • Line management of the Group Business Continuity Manager and oversight of the Business Continuity work of the 2 professionals embedded within the Global IT and Manufacturing & Procurement functions
  • Subject matter expertise of crisis /incident management / emergency response, working with the Group Security team to apply best practice to the preparation for and live management of incidents qualifying as a crisis

About you:


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Holds at least a Certificate from the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI) and ideally Membership (MBCI), or equivalent


  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proactive and commercial approach to problem solving
  • Ability to develop relationships across all areas of the business internationally and to influence these stakeholders to effect change
  • Drive to understand all aspects of the operations of Dyson Group and reinforce subject matter expertise through continuous professional development
  • Ability to think strategically and anticipate future trends and threats
  • Calm under pressure
  • Experience of operating with and demonstrating credibility at senior management level
  • Line management (preferably also in a matrix structure)
  • Willingness to travel internationally
