Central to Dyson’s operating model is the ability to resource and develop our teams. The Heads of HR UK roles are responsible for leading the Upstream or Downstream HR teams in the UK and will be the primary business partner to the UK RDD organisation: planning and executing Dyson’s People strategies, acting as a proactive and strategic-thought partner to the Senior Leadership members and their leadership teams, aligning the human resources agenda in support of key business strategies and initiatives.
This requires a business-focused mindset to help translate business objectives to human capital strategies and expertise on all people and organisational issues.
The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating challenging forces in the dynamic technology and innovation space and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with significant change; employing only the necessary HR processes that enable the organisation to innovate and grow.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Partnering with RDD senior leaders, with significant autonomy, setting and delivering the People function strategy in the UK and support regionalised business functions to build global relationships and ways of working
Relationship Building/Influencing: Demonstrate effective and appropriate influencing skills with senior management/partners, combining high-level human capital knowledge with deep organizational understanding. Leverage strong judgement skills to make decisions.
Understanding business strategies and developing high impact human capital solutions as appropriate cross the broader organization
Excellent communication with peers, People COEs, C level leaders and the RDD SLT, Category VP’s and Upstream leadership teams to ensure problems are discussed in an open and mature fashion and a consistent, collaborative approach is applied to all elements of product development
Fostering a culture of innovation, in an environment that requires high levels of scalability, security and reliability
‘Championing’ implementation and leading by example to demonstrate best practice; win ‘hearts and minds’ by demonstrating good decision making, escalations and managing risk
Leading a team providing specialised HR knowledge supporting one of the UK Upstream/UK Downstream RDD business and ensuring best practice is followed and drive continuous improvement, and driving an effective client-service HR team that instils company-wide trust and value for the HR function
Ensuring HR team members are responsible for and capable of delivering high quality output and solutions in an agile way and serve as a role model and thought leader on Human Capital issues and coaches other HRBPs in their development
Consistently measuring the effectiveness of HR initiatives and programmes to ensure they are delivering desired outcomes
Providing subject matter expertise in Employee Relations and performance management, proactively mitigates risk via creation and deployment of practices and programmes and acts as point of escalation for ER issues
Leading change management and large-scale transformation including organisational or HR system changes and executes and may lead special projects as needed, working alongside HR Directors.
Driving a high-performance culture within the People function and within RDD, as well as proactive performance and talent management of the people within your team
About You
Strong collaboration skills within and outside of HR
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the credibility to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at director/exec level
An outstanding people manager, with demonstrable experience in managing and leading complex teams, nurturing talent and driving a high-performance culture
Experienced in successfully leading and managing multiple complex projects, adept at managing change, preparing, support and guiding stakeholders through organisational changes
You will possess strong commercial, operational and financial acumen
Proven leadership in global organization and problem-solving ability, able to resolve conflict amongst cross-functional peers and act decisively to drive product development forward within a fast paced and ambiguous environment
Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and effectively as a team
Exceptional organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure
Anticipates questions, thinks ahead, plans for contingencies. Finds alternative/practical solutions when ideal solutions are not possible. Proactively collaborates across functions and works effectively across boundaries
