Global Procurement is accountable for the strategic sourcing of Direct Materials, Tooling and Equipment, needed for the manufacturing and assembly of Dyson products, securing the material readiness for product launches and achieving the cost targets of the bills of material.
The Core Technology Procurement team is responsible for core Commercial Cells, Heater, Commercial Motors, Energy Storages, Power Cords and Harnesses.
About the role
We are looking for a senior leader to manage our core technologies team which involves batteries, and other technologies critical to our products.
This role reports to the Global Director of Dyson Global Procurement and is part of the Procurement Leadership team. It represents one of 3 strategic pillars in Dyson’s direct material procurement and strongly contributes to the profitable growth of Dyson as the responsible materials represent a large share of the total spend and provides a growing source of competitive advantages of our product technologies.
Provide thought leadership to both procurement and stakeholder organisations to further develop the impact and value of the team.
Lead several commodity groups with teams of GCM’s.
Develop a high performing team and positively contribute to the culture of the function.
Full strategic responsibility of Core technology spend across all Dyson product categories.
Build strong relationships to senior stakeholders in R&D, Product category, Operations and Finance as a basis for setting the right strategic directions for the procurement area.
Create and maintain long term commodity strategies based on product requirements and technology roadmaps.
Accountable for delivering both cost reduction and budget efficiency in line with functional targets.
Build and maintain strong collaboration with the Upstream procurement team to drive best cost/performance decisions in early stages of the product development.
Manage supplier performance and maintain relationships at senior management level.
Create supplier specific supply resilience programs to ensure a long term supply security.
Drive CSER contribution of suppliers to support Dyson’s sustainability targets.
Accountable for the negotiations of supplier contracts and commercial terms & conditions.
Oversee and steer cost analyses (cost regression analysis, should cost, benchmarking).
Identify, manage and mitigate supplier and component risks.
Maximise Dual Sourcing to drive competition and supply resilience.
Manage optimal collaboration with procurement project teams to ensure material availability at all milestones.
Coach and develop the team in its strive for excellence, individually and as a team.
Master degree in Business, IT or Engineering (MBA desired).
More than 15 years experience in senior procurement leadership with exposure to executives.
Clear desire to want to build a high performance culture within the team.
Strong and convincing communication and presentation skills.
Ability to zoom in and out of the detail of multiple projects and identify areas of focus and priority.
