Head of Product Development Systems - RDD & NPI IT

About the role

Dyson’s global IT RDD & NPI function has end-to-end accountability for the strategic roadmap, design, delivery, and support of many of the applications enabling Dysons global RDD and NPI teams and processes, with particular focus on early product research and development teams, the international research and engineering functions, robotics, and software development for teams located across 20+ sites in APAC, Europe, Americas, and China.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Build, develop, and lead a team of technical product owners for the RDD, Quality, and Operations IT systems and applications.

  • Create and maintain a multi-year IT product development roadmap for PLM, ALM, and CAE & Simulation that demonstrates technical thought leadership and industry best practices.

  • Provide consultative services to the RDD & & NPI IT Solution Architects and Delivery team, the business product owners, and external strategic partners, and supervise and guide the quality and standards of technical delivery.

  • Foster and develop an ambassadorial role for RDD & NPI IT and the wider global IT function with senior global RDD and Quality stakeholders to secure sponsorship for significant programmes of change and transformation.

  • Work alongside the Legal and Procurement teams to strengthen and leverage the strategic partnerships for the benefit of the business and brand and push for industry leading capability building across the RDD, Quality, and Operations application stack.

  • Support and collaboratively improve Product Management and application delivery. 

  • Support in the identification and resolution of service risks and issues.

  • Contribute to community practices across the RDD, ALM, and CAE Simulation application stack and use the learnings in the development of the multi-year IT product development roadmap.

  • Develop and deliver rewarding career development plans for the Technical Product Owners in the team.

About you

  • Technical leadership, planning, and delivery experience in industry for at least two of the core product and tooling areas of PLM, ALM, or CAE & Simulation.

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing technical strategies to build and enhance product development and quality capabilities like technical risk management, BoM management, materials management, product cost management, etc.

  • An ability to produce senior level reports on status, industry trends, and performance.

  • Outstanding technical communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to influence senior stakeholders.

  • An ability to maintain agreement and alignment across multiple IT and business teams and actively breakdown silos.

  • Demonstrable experience of structuring and improving processes, procedures, and technical knowledge retention within a large, fast-moving organisation.

  • Industry experience of project and software delivery methodologies (Agile, waterfall, and hybrid).

  • Strong and demonstrable experience in Siemens Teamcenter and industry leading CAE/Multiphysics engineering simulation software solutions.
