Head of NPD – Hair Care Go-To-Market Commercial Team

What we are looking for
We are looking for a Head of NPD (new product development) to develop the global go-to-market launch strategy for new hair care product launches.
About the Role
A fundamental part of what we do, is the development of new, innovative and pioneering technology. You will work closely with leaders across RDD, Commercial, markets and operations to develop strategic and commercial rationale for products and range plans and bring these innovations to our global markets. You will lead a Commercial GTM team to deliver and execute this launch development and strategy. This role reports into the Hair Care category director.
Work closely with the category director to align strategic principles for the category and ensure alignment across the new innovations.
Define the commercial approach for these new product launches.
Take ownership for developing launch strategies and campaigns - in particular your focus will be on working closely with the engineering and research teams on product development, alongside leading the team responsible for building the launch campaign consisting of media planning, ATL, social and digital assets and ensuring we deliver innovation in our marketing support of NPD to match the innovation in our new machines.
Responsible for defining clear claims and marketing strategy for all new hair care innovations
Lead a team responsible for working closely with the extensive internal creative, legal, claims and engineering teams to bring this technology to life through launch strategies and campaigns.
Responsibility for developing NPD business cases, launch volume and target setting against launch strategy
Responsible for managing senior stakeholders and managing category strategy updates with the Executive Council, SSG, VP’s, MD’s and Marketing Directors all markets globally
Work closely with Creative Director to outline and guide principles for the NPD launches and campaigns
Responsible for ensuring the product pipeline for the category for the next 2-5 years, is innovative, financially sound and reflects the commercial needs to be successful in market
Building and coaching a high performing team. Proving them with clear objectives and facilitating their development through coaching and regular feedback
Support the Commercial Director in defining the global strategy for the Hair Care category
Be able to deputise for the Commercial Director as and when required
Responsible for setting and monitoring the budget for the category with other senior stakeholders
Regularly meet with creative leads and copy team to deliver first class creative executions for review in Dyson Creative Review (DCR). Attend DCR as required to represent the commercial rationale.
The ideal candidate will have thrived in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for technology. You'll have experience of confidently leading and inspiring teams to review, plan, create and deliver. Experience of doing this internationally, and across multiple functions (e.g. R&D, Consumer Research, Creative) is highly desirable.
You'll also have experience of product or brand management and be highly adept at both commercial and marketing communications, with a strong traditional, social and digital media channel knowledge. Experience of managing innovation and product preferable.
As a head of NPD you will be able to prioritise deliverables across the category and across channels in order to meet business critical deadlines.
You will identify gaps and opportunities and ensure that markets and wider teams are cascaded information in a consistent and effective manner. Equally commercial threats and trends will be understood and highlighted in a timely manner to affect product development changes.
You will set targets and objectives for initiatives with clear measurements and reporting. You will actively share best practice between channels and markets. Your business acumen will be high with the ability to prioritise and achieve targets through astute commercial sense. Behaviourally you will seek to deliver beyond targets and find solutions to achieve this.
You will galvanise the wider business to support and participate with change initiatives and drive a high impact through influencing and persuading others to support your direction.
You will set the bar with the team and yourself to balance aspiration with realistic deliverables and allocate resource where it can make the most impact. You will champion the voice of change within the team and provide an open environment where proposals are eagerly given.
